In February,May,September and November 2018,the Ministry of Education promulgated the Notice of the General Office of the Ministry of Education on the Progress in the Rectification of the Special Governance Actions of the After-school Tutoring Institutions in China,indicating that problems arise in the after-school tutoring institutions springing up like mushrooms.Primary school education,as an education stage to lay the foundation for students,plays an essential role in the physical and mental development of primary school students.In recent years,it is more and more common for primary school students to participate in extracurricular tutoring.What causes parents of primary school students to choose extracurricular tutoring for their children? What is the status of parents' choice of extracurricular tutoring now? Are there any problems with the parents' choice of extracurricular tutoring programs?This paper mainly studies the selection of extracurricular coaching for parents of primary school students from grade 3 to grade 6 in District S of City D.In this paper,an investigation is carried out on 200 parents of primary school students from grade 3to grade 6 by questionnaire and interview.Then,the investigation data are analyzed by SPSS 22.0,mainly involving the methods of descriptive statistics,difference analysis,and regression analysis.The author has gained some knowledge about the parents' choice of extracurricular tutoring programs and analyzed the current situation of parents' choice of extracurricular tutoring programs and the difference between the preferences of parents from different family backgrounds.Finally,the author concludes that there are some problems in the selection of extracurricular tutoring programs by parents of primary school students from grade 3 to grade 6 in District S of City D,such as parents' preference for knowledge-based classes,excessive participation,and blindness in the choice of subjects in the tutorial classes,as well as inappropriate reasons for the selection of extracurricular tutoring programs.In view of the above problems,the author tries to put forward some countermeasures.From the perspective of parents,they should enhance the concept of sustainable development of education,take a rational attitude towards the fundamentality of elementary education,respect children's choice,reshape the meaning of children's lives,and rationally choose extracurricular tutoring classes.
