With the global development of knowledge economy,cultivation of a group that have interdisciplinary comprehensive innovative talents is the goal of our country in the new stage.Creative modeling teaching activities are advocated in The biology curriculum standard of compulsory education.The deep integration of steam concept and modeling teaching is conducive to the realization of the joint development of various disciplines and the birth of a new model of modeling teaching.The researches and applications of modeling teaching and steam concept have been carried out relatively early in foreign countries.The researches on steam education in China have been mainly focused on three aspects: the construction of steam platform,the development of steam projects and the research and development of steam products.In this study,the results that teachers and students were interviewed and questionnaires were used to investigate the current situation of steam education and modeling teaching.The results show that although junior high school teachers and students have not systematically studied the steam education concept,they support the integration of steam education concept into junior high school biology teaching.Most biology teachers have shown models in the classroom,but they rarely guide students to build their own models.The biological modeling activities that have been carried out are considered to be purely handmade,so they fail to achieve the purpose of cultivating students' thinking and innovation ability.The steam concept was taken as the guidance to carry out the research on the construction of junior high school biology modeling teaching mode in this study.The steam concept was penetrated into five aspects: teaching content screening principle,teaching content overview,steam teaching objectives,modeling teaching process design and steam modeling course evaluation methods.Author took the biology textbook of human education edition as an example to carry out empirical research,in-depth divided into The object and content of the experiment are analyzed,and made the case analysis of junior middle school biology modeling teaching based on steam concept which is carried out for physical model,mathematical model and conceptual model.According to the teaching content,two classes with similar basic situation and learning achievements in our school are selected as the experimental objects to carry out the modeling teaching practice based on the steam concept.At the end of the course,the questionnaire on the teaching effect of biological modeling in junior high school based on steam concept was used to evaluate students' knowledge mastery,learning interest and thinking ability.Author collected and sorted out data,and putted forward implementation suggestions from the aspects of preparation before class,teaching process,teacher training and school-based curriculum compilation.Based on the steam concept,the teaching mode of biological modeling in junior high school was constructed and three typical teaching cases around the steam concept were designed in this research.The advocacy that the integration of multiple disciplines and enriching teaching methods is conducive to promoting the overall development of students,understanding the nature of science.Teachers should make full preparation before class,form subject intercommunication,and be familiar with students' cognition;in the process of implementation,teachers should make every effort to take care of all students and improve their own classroom organization and management ability;in terms of teacher training,they should strengthen the steam elements of normal students' Education,on-the-job training and communication platform;when conditions permit,they should compile school-based teaching materials In order to provide reference for biology teachers of middle schools to effectively carry out physical model construction activities based on steam concept,four aspects such as steam related modules or columns should be properly added.
