As one of the multiple intelligences, spatial intelligence is an important ability that affects learning, life, art and many other aspects.Past studies have pointed out that focusing on the cultivation of spatial ability is helpful to the study of mathematics and other subjects. At the same time,it also puts forward the research expectations on the correlation between spatial skills and mathematics learning, and the prediction of students' mathematical performance by spatial skills. However, spatial ability is still a difficult point for teachers to teach and students to understand abstract problems. This research was carried out in two classes in the first grade of a middle school in Shanghai. Each class had 37 students,a total of 74 people,as the research objects. The experimental design of the experimental class and the control class was carried out,and the experimental class was taught in an eight-week virtual Lego course. After the course, interview students in the experimental class about their attitudes towards virtual Lego-assisted mathematics learning, and collect data through mathematics tests, mental rotation abilities and spatial visualization scales, and finally explore the retention of spatial abilities through delay tests. The data processing process uses statistical methods such as descriptive statistics,t-test,covariance analysis, correlation analysis, and stepwise regression. The results of the study show that the experimental class' s mathematics scores, spatial visualization and mental rotation ability post-test scores are significantly higher than the pre-test;while the control group only has mental rotation ability post-test scores significantly higher than the pre-test;and the two classes have significant differences only in visual-spatial ability. The delayed test of the visualspatial ability of the experimental class found that the visual-spatial ability of students will gradually decline with the increase of time. There is a significant correlation between mathematics performance and visuospatial ability. The visuospatial ability score can predict changes in mathematics performance, and high school students have a positive attitude towards virtual Lego-assisted mathematics learning. Finally, this research proposes recommendations from virtual Lego courses, teaching and future research.
