Study On The Use Of Smart Phones And Social Adaptation Of The Elderly In The Period Of Wuhan City Closure

As my country enters the digital age,almost all areas of social life require the use of the Internet to access key services,and digitalization has penetrated into the fabric of social development.While most citizens enjoy the convenience of digitalization,there is also a group of elderly people who are trapped in digitalization and even become unable to do so.Some scholars call them "digital refugees" or "digital abandoned people." This group is struggling in the sudden public incident of the new crown epidemic,which has greatly increased the difficulty of community governance and the workload of grassroots organizations.So,what practical difficulties do the elderly have in using smartphones? Why are there difficulties? Do these difficulties affect the social adjustment of the elderly? In order to answer these questions,this article takes the elderly in Wuhan during the lockdown period of Wuhan as the research object,uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis to study the use of new media by the elderly,and discusses digitalization from the perspective of sociological "social adaptation".The relationship between the middle-aged and elderly in society and social adaptation.This survey shows that the senior citizens' new media skills mastery during the lockdown period of Wuhan is positively correlated with their socioeconomic status and physical health,and is not correlated with age.In daily use,the smart phones of the elderly are mainly used for social interaction,payment and information acquisition,while during the epidemic period,acquisition of information and purchase of daily necessities are the main purposes of use.The use of We Chat by the elderly mainly focuses on basic functions,such as voice and video chat,public account reading and We Chat group shopping,etc.,and the frequency of advanced use is low.In terms of social adaptation,the types of smart phone use,We Chat and Alipay use will have a significant positive impact on social adaptation,and the length of use will not have an impact on social adaptation.Regression analysis showed that during the epidemic,the use of smartphones by the elderly in Wuhan showed significant adaptability to overall social changes,self-care adaptability,interpersonal communication adaptability,and social role transition adaptability.This shows that the use of smartphones during the epidemic has played a positive role in the social adaptation of the elderly.Therefore,as our country is about to enter the background of deep aging,relevant government departments should implement digital good governance,improve social governance,and consider the demands of disadvantaged groups.The approach to digital services should adopt an inclusive approach.After all,digital survival is a means,not an end.The purpose of technological development is to achieve a digital survival with quality and dignity.
