In recent years,the research on the social work intervention in the Living Will is in the ascendant in China.From the perspective of social work theory of evidencebased practice,by the methods of participant observation,interview,based on the evidence of Clinton's Living Will operating guideline,this research on case work of delivering Living Will to an inpatient with advanced rectal cancer created a set of reference suitable for the medical social workers in the hospital environment delivering Living Will services.This set of reference is called case work guideline in delivering Living Will 1.0 edition.The results of this research are as follows.First,Clinton's operating guidelines for Living Will are not applicable to social workers in hospitals in China.The second is the specific intervention finds,including malignant tumor inpatient agree with the role and identity of Living Will,social workers can help inpatient with malignant tumor in hospital with Living will,but social workers have some challenges in delivering Living Will to inpatient with malignant tumor in hospital,it tells that social workers need local intervention guideline and the attitude of inpatients` agent and family members toward Living Will is the key to make Living Will come true.Case work guideline in delivering Living Will 1.0 edition,a set of reference suitable for the medical social workers in the hospital environment delivering Living Will services is created for medical social workers.In the end,this study reflects on the theoretical perspective,case intervention process,ethical conflict between the social work principle of client self-determination and family-oriented medical decision-making as well as the promotion and practice of Living Will in China.Medical social workers should provide living will intervention services to inpatients with malignant cancer who need it.
