In the 21 st century, the digital revolution has turned long-term work into shortterm projects. It is difficult for adolescents to collect information, make judgments, and make decisions during their career development when the work changes rapidly. The new domestic college entrance examination policy requires high school students to make a professional choice that suits them. Some high schools offer mental health development courses to understand students better and explore more about careers and majors. However, mental health development courses' curriculum system is still in the exploratory stage, and it is difficult to make flexible adjustments to students' problems.Only a tiny part of the courses is related to career exploration and decision-making.The curriculum focuses more on students' adaptation to the surrounding environment, such as self-awareness,emotions,time planning.Simultaneously, students are not very clear about their abilities, strengths and weaknesses in academic and professional fields they are interested in,so it is hard for high school students to make professional and suitable choices. This research aims to find the factors that influence the major choice in high school then provide the theoretical basis for career courses. This study consistent with two sub-studies.The participants selected in this study are high school students from one international school. The reason is that these students need to make major choices when submitting applications for universities. The choice of majors has become an inevitable decision when entering high school. The goals of choosing courses and majors in the college entrance examination are the same with typical high school students. The international schools mentioned in this study are not purely foreign schools run by foreigners.Only international students are enrolled, but international schools that recruit domestic and international students and adopt A-level courses in the British curriculum system. The first study explores the relationship between proactive personality, career adaptability, and major choice through valid questionnaires(N=187)collected from high school students in an international school. The second study is based on the first study—twenty students selected from the first study divided into the experimental and control groups.Ten students in the experimental group took career courses, and the control group students did not take career courses, then compare the changes in the two groups. The career course mentioned here is specially designed based on career construction theory and real needs, focusing on students' exploration of future careers and professions, which somewhat different from mental health development courses. The research conclusions are as follows: a)The average score of proactive personality, career adaptability, and major choice of international high school students are generally above the middle level. The average career curiosity score in career adaptability is higher than career concern, career control, and career self-confidence.b)There is no significant difference in gender and grade in the proactive personality, career adaptability, and major choice of international high school students.c)The role of career adaptability dimensions partially mediated proactive personality and major choice.Among career adaptability dimensions, curiosity has a significant mediation effect.d)Career courses can improve high school students' career adaptability and promote high school students' career choice behavior. When high school students make major choices, they need scientific and practical tools and methods to understand themselves better, and corresponding supports from the school, family, and society. The career development-related teachers should design career courses based on student's actual needs and offer professional career counseling services. In the individual's family, parents need to realize that their social and work experience will affect students' major choices. They need to integrate family resources to help students have a comprehensive understanding of future career and professional development prospects.Enterprises and some institutions should provide more internship or internship opportunities for high school students, which helps students understand the operation mode, working environment and content intuitively, career development status, and enterprises' prospects.
