Music education in primary and secondary schools is an important segment of Chinese basic education,as well as an essential avenue to implement quality education, which occupies a dominant position in the cultivation of students’ comprehensive quality and core literacy. As the guide of the music discipline, enhancing professional skills and teaching ability has become the top priority for music teachers in primary and middle schools. The times are developing, society is progressing, reform of music education has never stopped.Since the reformation of the basic education curriculum in 2001,China has successively launched a series of activities such as the "Music Education Conference","Forum of Music Masters",and " Evaluation of Music Course ",whether it is a keynote speech by a scholar or a master class directly facing the expert,or it is a workshop of famous teachers showing the latest practical achievements of current education, they all aim to let every child enjoy a balanced and high-quality music education under the background of the current educational reform, jointly promoting the development of aesthetic education in school in the new era. While music education is booming, the phenomenon of "alienation" of teaching is endless. This study takes "alienation" of teaching as the starting point, understanding the current situation of music teaching in primary and middle schools in detail summarizing a variety of appearances in teaching "alienation" to explore deeply through reading a large number of books, journals, academic papers, and records in music classes.Music educators must pay attention to the phenomenon of "alienation" which will inevitably affect the quality of music teaching in primary and middle schools. Therefore, music teachers in elementary and middle school should realize that "alienation" of teaching needs to be eliminated, and music class in elementary and middle school should return to "authenticity".This research is divided into four parts. The first part is an introduction discussing the reasons of topic selection, the results of study at home and abroad, significance and methods of the research. The second part consists of three chapters, which is analysis of the phenomenon of "alienation".The first chapter is the phenomenon of "alienation" of "competition-based" teaching, including the types and gains or losses of "competition-based" teaching. The author divides the types of "competition-based" teaching into public classes, teaching and researching classes, and competition classes, believing that the "competition-based" teaching has a positive impact on helping teachers’ professional progress and promoting the update of teaching methods, but it also causes rigidity in presupposition and forming of classroom,as well as the abuse in methods of "innovative" teaching, etc. The second chapter is the phenomenon of "alienation" in the "examination-based" teaching, which analyzes that the "examination-based" teaching is produced in the context of academic level test and national quality monitoring. To solve the problems of "examination-based" teaching like existence of utilitarian of teaching purpose, mechanization in the teaching process, formalization of teaching evaluation, author believes that music teachers in primary and secondary school should focus on the win-win situation of double-base and aesthetics, finding a balance between burden reduction and monitoring, and pursuing equality in literacy and examination. The third chapter is the phenomenon of "alienation" of "Perfunctory type" teaching, which specifically explains the causes of "Perfunctory type" teaching, that it is embarrassment outside the "mainstream" and job burnout of teachers. The appearance of "Perfunctory type" teaching is divided into the absence of students, subjects and cultural understanding, which leads to some hazards such as inhibiting the individual development of students and hindering the update of teaching methods. The third part of this article is the solution strategy for the phenomenon of “alienation” of teaching proposed in the second part,it is believed that effective teaching strategies such as diversifying teaching approaches and strengthening professional teaching skills should be used;progressive teaching process and flexible teaching duration should be used to improve the teaching structure;in the end,the method of “evaluation promoting learning” and focus on dominant role of teacher and student can be adopted to establish a multiple communication model. The last part is the conclusion, describing that the author looks at the essence through the phenomenon considering that the return of the "authenticity" of teaching in the music classroom in elementary and middle schools needs thinking of the "authenticity",understanding of the "authenticity",and executing of the "authenticity ".
