This paper mainly studies the application of Suchman's Inquiry Training in high school physical geography teaching.By means of literature analysis,the author summarizes the relevant concepts and theoretical basis of Suchman's research on Inquiry Training.The author refines the application of Suchman's Inquiry Training mode in high school physical geography classroom teaching and elaborated on the specific process of applying the model to the teaching of high school physical geography.The author applied the model to the teaching of compulsory geography and evaluated the teaching effect and concluded the advantages and disadvantages of the model applied to the teaching of physical geography.The final conclusion of this study is as follows:(1)It Refined the model of Suchman's Inquiry Training in high school physical geography teaching: There are five links: "Elucidating Rules,Familiar with Methods","Presenting Situations,Attracting Attention","Analyzing Situations,Confirming Object Properties and Conditions","Group Cooperation,Separating Related Variables","Determining Structural Relations,and Verifying Hypotheses".(2)It elaborated the specific process steps: "Clarify the Scope of Application,Adhere to the Course Standard Guidance","Overall Design of Teaching Objectives,Selection of Context Materials","Problem Context Design,Test Problem Context","Construction of Classroom Evaluation System,Geographical Exploration Training Classroom Implementation","Evaluation Implementation,Feedback Application".(3)The research evaluated the effect of the model on the physical geography teaching.It showed that: This model can active classroom atmosphere,highly mobilize the students' thinking activity.It good foe the student learn to think independently,exercise its character,which is helpful to student's geographical thinking training and the cultivation of the core geographic literacy.However,there is no obvious effect on improving students' basic knowledge of physical geography,especially the knowledge of memory.(4)There are still some problems in the specific application of this model in physical geography teaching,such as the imperfect evaluation system,teachers' teaching organization ability,students' enthusiasm for participation,and the under-development of geography curriculum resources for exploration and training.All these need to be solved so as to improve the application of this model in high school physical geography teaching,and provide some ideas and experience for the transformation of high school geography teaching methods.
