Reading engagement is closely related to reading literacy,which is an important indicator to improve students' reading literacy.Both the international reading literacy assessment and the national research on reading literacy based on their own cultural background gradually shift from what reading literacy students should have to students' reading engagement in specific reading situations,which makes reading engagement become the focus of reading research.Based on the definition of learning engagement by the Institute of Education of Tsinghua University,this study explores the connotation of reading engagement from the perspectives of pedagogy and psychology,and constructs a "reading engagement model" in combination with relevant theories.Based on the definition and construction of the connotation and model of reading engagement in this study,the author designed a questionnaire to investigate the current situation of Chinese reading engagement of senior grade students in primary schools,and proposed corresponding improvement countermeasures through analyzing the problems and causes,in order to promote the improvement of students' reading literacy and lifelong learning ability.This paper is divided into six parts:The first part: introduction.This part mainly includes three aspects: research background,domestic and foreign related research and research design.Under the background of lifelong education,reading literacy assessment and new curriculum reform,reading research has gradually returned to the educational context,and reading engagement has become the focus of research.Through the review of relevant research at home and abroad,the author summarizes the existing research results and the shortcomings of the current researches and then carries out the research design of this paper from the research purpose,research significance,research content,research ideas and research methodsThe second part: the concept,characteristics and value of primary school students' Chinese reading engagement.This part mainly defines the concept of reading engagement,and generalizes the main characteristics of primary school students' reading engagement such as initiative,interactivity,hierarchy and plasticity based on the concept connotation.This paper analyzes the value of reading engagement from three aspects: Reforming learning methods and promoting deep learning;Assessing the reading process and promoting effective teaching;improving reading literacy and developing lifelong reading ability.The third part: the construction of primary school students' Chinese reading engagement model.On the basis of Bloom's theory of classification of educational objectives and ICAP's theory of taxonomy of learning styles,combining the connotation and main characteristics of reading engagement in this study,a model of primary school students' Chinese reading engagement was constructed,and six dimensions and three layers of depth structural characteristics of primary school students' Chinese reading engagement were defined.The fourth part: the investigation of the current situation of the senior grade students' Chinese reading engagement.Based on elementary Chinese reading engagement model of the construction of the institute of design of questionnaire,the fifth and sixth grade students of three different types of schools in S district of Pu yang City were investigated.Using SPSS and AMOS and other tools for data analysis,the author makes a descriptive analysis of primary school students' reading engagement from six dimensions and three depths,analyzes the differences of students' demographic investment in reading,and conducts correlation and regression analysis of reading engagement and its influencing factors.Based on data analysis,this paper summarizes the survey results of Chinese reading engagement of senior grade students in primary schools.The fifth part: the primary school senior students Chinese reading engagement problems and analysis of the reasons.Based on the investigation results of primary school students' reading engagement and its influencing factors,this paper summarizes the existing problems of primary school students' reading engagement.In view of the problems in the survey,the teacher interview outline was designed,and the Chinese teachers of the investigated schools were selected to conduct the interview investigation.Based on the interview results of teachers and related theories,this paper analyzes the reasons for the problems existing in primary school students' Chinese reading engagement from the aspects of schools,teachers,families and students themselves.The sixth part: the countermeasures to improve the Chinese reading engagement of the senior grade students in primary school.Based on the model of primary school students' reading engagement constructed in this study and the analysis of the problems and causes shown in the actual survey results,the author puts forward targeted countermeasures to promote the improvement of primary school students' reading engagement.
