The "International Charter of Geography Education 2016" states: "In addition to bringing people the core skills of the 21 st century,geography education also brings people unique exploration tools." Compared with other subjects in high school,geography has strong practicality and plays an important role in cultivating students’ practical ability.Therefore,under the current educational background of "cultivating people by virtue",practical work of geography is one of the core qualities of geography and is highly valued.This study first conducted an investigation and interview on the current situation of the cultivation of high school students’ geographical practical ability in Yibin City.Then,based on the Kolb experiential learning circle theory,it analyzed the appropriateness between the theory and the cultivation of geographical practical ability.On this basis,a model of the cultivation of geographical practical ability was constructed.Finally,combining the cultivation model with the problems existing in the training process of geographical practice ability,the paper designs "Campus Vegetation Survey Activity Plan" and the evaluation scale.The full text mainly includes the following four parts:(1)In combination with the Curriculum Standards for Geography in Senior High Schools(2017 Edition 2020 Revision)(hereinafter referred to as "Curriculum Standards for Geography 2020")and the evaluation index system determined by Yao Meng et al using the Delphi Method(expert opinion method),the practical ability of geography is divided into 3 first-level indicators and 14 second-level indicators;At the same time,based on the description of the academic quality level of geography and the core accomplishment level of geography in the curriculum standard,the grade division and requirements of 14 second-level indicators are carried out.(2)A total of 227 senior high school students and 23 geography teachers in three schools,Junlian County Middle School,Yibin No.3 Middle School,Yibin Dongchen School and Yibin City,were investigated by questionnaire and interview.It is found that the level of high school students’ geographical practice ability in Yibin City needs to be strengthened: Most students have weak awareness of observation and recording,and only 15.86% of students will continuously observe geographic phenomena and organize data;Through word frequency analysis and answer analysis,it is found that students have a low level of information acquisition and knowledge application,and the level of information acquisition ability is mainly concentrated in the second level;Ignoring survey report writing and activity results presentation,only 33.48% of the students will write the survey report after the end of the practical activities,27.75% of the students will exchange and display the survey results;Teachers have a single evaluation method for students after participating in activities.87.5% of teachers only choose face-to-face comments.At the same time,more than half of teachers hope that the school can establish a geography experiment base and carry out geography practice activities in the school.(3)Based on the analysis of the appropriateness of Kolb’s experiential learning circle theory and elements and levels of geographical practical ability,a training model of geographical practical ability is designed.In the four stages of the experiential learning circle,different elements of geographical practical ability are focused on training.In the specific experience stage,knowledge application,observation record and information acquisition ability are focused on training.Reflective summary stage focuses on the training of analysis,processing,reflection summary ability;The abstract and summary stage focuses on cultivating the ability of activity design and innovation.The active application stage focuses on the cultivation of activity implementation,tool use,cooperation and communication ability and will quality.(4)Based on the geographic practice training model and combined with the problems in the training of high school students’ geographic practice in Yibin City and the teachers’ needs to carry out geographic practice activities in the school,the "Campus Vegetation Survey Activities" program was designed,and the specific experience and reflection Different practical activities have been designed in the four stages of summarization,generalization and creation,and active application,focusing on cultivating students’ practical ability in geography.At the same time,in the process of plan design,pay attention to the cultivation of students’ awareness of observation and recording and the application of knowledge.Students are required to take photos to identify vegetation types,observe vegetation characteristics,fill in forms,and make data records during vegetation survey activities;After the investigation is over,the writing of the investigation report is emphasized,and the presentation of the results of the activity is emphasized.The student investigation report is required to include: The vegetation characteristics of the survey area,the distribution of vegetation,the problems and solutions found in the survey process,the gains and deficiencies in the survey,how to maintain campus vegetation,reasonable suggestions for campus greening,etc.,and present them in the form of text,pictures,videos,etc.;The Geographical Practice Ability Evaluation Scale includes three parts: student self-evaluation,peer evaluation,and teacher evaluation,which enriches the evaluation methods.
