In recent years, with the increasing number of high-quality talents, the talent market is becoming more and more oversupplied, employment pressure and competitiveness has become a serious problem that young people have to face.In this situation, more and more young people take the initiative to withdraw from the competition to escape from the employment pressure and become NEETS who rely on their parents for assistance. The families in which this group exists often experience bad parent-child relationships and even serious conflicts, which can cause great harm to each member of the family.Since such situations are usually caused by a combination of the NEETS' own psychological factors and their parents' attitudes, words, and actions toward them, this study takes the whole family as the object to improve bad parent-child relationships and rebuild a rational family structure in NEET families by means of structural family therapy. The study selected a nuclear family as a case study, used the interview method, participant observation method and case study method to understand the family situation, the relationship and conflicts among family members, assessed the problems of the family structure, and set up corresponding sub-goals and overall goals to address the problems, and used the four-step model of structural family therapy to intervene in the intervention family. The first step is to de-label the family members to realize that the problems are caused by the family as a whole and to stop blaming the NEET's family members for the problems. This is followed by exploring which ways of interaction among members are causing the current problems and looking for what is really causing the problems,i.e.the different problems within each subsystem within the family and the imbalance in the division of roles that occurs in the family. This is followed by an analysis of how the current problematic communication patterns and family structures in the family arose by exploring the members' past experiences and the family structure, division of authority and responsibility, and communication patterns in the family of origin. Finally, based on the information obtained in the previous stages,we discuss with family members the possibilities and concrete measures to change the situation. We help each subsystem to rebuild reasonable boundaries, clarify the division of roles and responsibilities, improve the unreasonable communication status, and promote healthy communication among members. The intervention was evaluated through three aspects: outcome assessment,self-assessment by the client and self-assessment by the social worker,to understand the effectiveness of the intervention. The goal of this intervention was basically achieved, and the ultimate goal of establishing communication patterns, repairing the functions of family subsystems, and restoring relationships among members was accomplished. However, there are also some points worth reflecting on in this intervention: first, the intervention process was subjective and not value-neutral;second,too many goals were set without considering the time frame, resulting in some sub-goals not being fully achieved during the intervention period. The following conclusions emerged from this study on the use of structural family therapy in families with NEET: First, structural family therapy can be effective in addressing bad parent-child relationships.Second, bad parent-child relationships in adulthood also need attention,as the conflicts in this stage are more intense and the negative effects are more extensive.Third,to alleviate the NEET problem, multiple parties need to work together, and the government, schools and communities should take appropriate measures within their scope and combine with specific social work approaches to better deal with this social problem. The government, schools and communities should take measures within their own scope and combine with specific social work approaches to better deal with this social problem.
