Today,art education can be roughly divided into three categories: one is professional art education that cultivates artists;the other is general art education that cultivates students' artistic quality;the third is normal art education that aims at cultivating art teachers.Each type of art educators believe that the purpose,function and method of these three types of art education are different,so they are independent in practice and seem to be unrelated to each other.However,art therapy for patients with mental illness,originated from European and American psychotherapy,is a psychotherapy using art media,so it has been isolated from professional art education and general art education for a long time.In this paper,the author found in participate in the experiment teaching process,the concept and method of art therapy in ordinary middle school art teaching,also is specifically for mental illnesses "art therapy" expand as applicable to the general adolescent mental health,mental development " art guidance counseling ",not only is necessary,have important practical significance,And it is feasible and effective.On the basis of studying the relevant theories and practices in Europe,America and China,this paper puts forward and defines the new concept of art education," art guidance counseling ",analyzes and discusses the functions,implementation principles and methods of art guidance counseling,and tries to integrate the method of art therapy into the art teaching in middle schools.In order to give full play to the high school art teaching in the maintenance of students' mental health,promote the development of their personality sound important role.
