Asking questions is the starting point of scientific inquiry. In today's widely advocated inquiry teaching,"asking questions" is also the first link of this teaching mode.Combined with the characteristics of experimental inquiry in biology,it can be seen that the ability to ask questions is of great importance to students' biology learning. In the new middle school biology curriculum standard,"the ability to ask and find problems" is incorporated into the core literacy of biology. Therefore,it is particularly important to study the ability of students to ask questions in biology teaching. In this study, questionnaire survey, interview, observation and other methods were used to study the current situation of students' ability to ask questions in biology teaching of a high school in Shihezi. It is found that the students' ability to ask questions is generally low in this area. There are some problems in biology teaching, such as not daring to ask,not happy to ask and not able to ask.The reasons include students' factors, teachers' factors and external factors.Among them, student factors mainly include students' cognition of asking questions, students' psychology of asking questions and the influence of the old "indoctrination" education concept on students.Teacher factors mainly include teachers' understanding of asking questions, teaching concept and teachers' feedback on students.External factors mainly include students' evaluation method,teacher-student relationship and teaching atmosphere The planning of teaching time,in addition, will have an impact on students' ability to ask questions to a certain extent. On the other hand, according to the survey results, teacher interviews and literature review, this paper puts forward some teaching strategies and suggestions for in-service teachers to cultivate students' ability to ask questions, which mainly include: 1.Correct students' cognition of problems, improve students' motivation to ask questions;2.Cultivate students' metacognitive ability, improve students' ability to find problems;3.Appropriate classroom atmosphere,to provide a psychological environment for students to ask questions,4.design corresponding teaching strategies, improve students' ability to ask questions from the method.
