China has entered an aging society.Under the large aging population, the burden of the elderly is increasing day by day,and the demand for the elderly care staff is also increasing. At present, the overall level of the nursing staff is low,the degree of specialization is not high, and the rate of taking up the post with certificate is low. Therefore,in order to cope with the aging society,it is necessary to improve the professional skills of the elderly care staff. This study uses questionnaire survey and interview method, and investigates the front-line nursing staff for the aged from four dimensions: life care skills, basic care skills, rehabilitation service skills and psychological support skills.Through SPSS data analysis, the status quo of occupational skills of nursing staff for the aged was obtained, which showed that the overall score of life care skills, basic care skills and rehabilitation service skills was low,and the score of psychological support skills was high.there is no significant difference in Occupation Skills between the household register, age and income(P>0.05).There are significant differences in occupational skills among gender, work unit, education level, occupation time and training status(P<0.05).This difference is manifested in the following:the professional skills of female nursing staff are higher than that of male nursing staff;the professional skills of public nursing staff are higher than that of private nursing staff; The nurses with high education level and long working time have higher vocational skills;the vocational skills of trained nurses are significantly higher than those of untrained nurses.Through the analysis of the current situation of occupational skills of nursing staff for the aged,it is found that the existing problems of occupational skills are as follows:the life care skills are the weakest, the basic nursing skills are not solid enough, the rehabilitation care skills are lack, and the understanding of psychological support skills is not enough. The main reasons are: national policies lack of guidance for high-quality talents;the training quality of the pension industry is uneven;the professional anchor position of pension nurses is not clear;the management mechanism of pension institutions is not perfect. Finally,it puts forward suggestions from four aspects: The government should formulate policies to attract professional nursing talents, standardize the training system of the pension industry, strengthen the professional skills of nursing staff, and refine the rules and regulations for the management of nursing staff.
