The Application Of Logotherapy In Social Work Service For Widowed Elderly Living Alone

For the elderly,the departure of close relatives or spouses is a major problem to be faced in the old age,especially the departure of spouses who accompany each other for a lifetime,which will hit the elderly even harder.The situation has changed,and the widowed elderly living alone have the basic characteristics of two vulnerable groups,widowed and living alone.As one of the treatment methods of case-based social work,the advantage of logotherapy is that it can help widowed elderly living alone to obtain meaning in life.After the use of logotherapy interventions,older adults have the courage and confidence to adapt to their widowed environment and enjoy their later years happily.This study is based on the practice of the project "Community Care Plan for the Poorly Elderly in Community S under the Normalization of Epidemic Prevention and Control".In the process of providing social work services to the elderly in extreme poverty,for a widowed elderly person living alone,the social worker used a case-by-case social work approach.A general process model,planning,implementing interventions and assessments,and conducting four stages of casework under the guidance of logotherapy theory.The case practice helps clients obtain the meaning of life from three aspects: realizing creative value,obtaining experiential value,and realizing attitude value.Significance Questionnaire(MLQ),interview method,and observation method are used to evaluate the transformation of service objects,and confirm that the service can produce certain service effects.The results of the study show that logotherapy has applicability in alleviating the meaninglessness of life,cultivating positive emotions and cognition,and obtaining meaning in life for the widowed elderly living alone.
