With the aging of the population and the development of social urbanization,there is an increasing number of widowed elderly living alone,but many problems they face are not solved properly and even evolve into major social problems as spiritual need which do great harm to the later life of the widowed elderly.Therefore,the paper makes a case study about village G in Henan province based on the theories of social support and social reconstruction,and carries out research by using the methods of literature review,interviewing to intervene the spiritual consolation for the widowed elderly living alone.After interviewing with Village G,Cheng was selected as the most representative client.After background research,the author estimated his spiritual needs and developed a specific service plan,then intervened patient for eight times from the perspectives of the client herself,his neighborhood and family by using the case work method of social work.In the process of intervention,the writer used the skills of empathy,guiding the patient to learn to talk and self-adjustment to enhance the effectiveness of the case service.Finally,the author evaluates the intervention outcome and puts forward some suggestions as followed: firstly,the patient keeps a positive and optimistic attitude towards life by herself.Secondly,family members pay attention to the widowed elderly living alone and observe the mood.Thirdly,social workers expand the scope of services to rural areas.Finally,all other aspects of society assume the social responsibility of supporting and caring the elderly on spiritual.
