High school stage is a pivotal time for students to get into a university.? The Curriculum Plan of General Senior High School ?emphasized that self-reliance of high school students is of great significance for their study and development in the future. As an important part of self-reliance,academic self-reliance refers to the learning process in which individuals get rid of dependence on others and develop independence and self-responsibility.The key period for the development of academic self-reliance should be in primary school, but due to the influence of family, school and personal factors, some students still have low academic self-reliance behaviors in high school, which will greatly affect their academic performance.Improving their academic self-reliance level is conducive to their future study and development. In addition, some studies have shown that behavioral contract method has a significant effect on behavior correction.Based on the characteristics of high school students' physical and mental development, this study adopted the method of case study to carry out behavioral contract intervention program to improve the academic self-reliance level of high school students. In this study,Academic Self-reliance Questionnaire for Adolescent was used to measure the level of academic self-reliance of 58 Senior Grade One general high school students who are in the same class in Hebei province.Students with scores of the scale that one standard deviation lower than the mean were regarded as the low group. The low score group included 9 students.Based on teacher's recommendation and researcher's observation,3 high school students from low score group were selected as the research objects. In combination with questionnaire, interview, observation and insider reports,A-B baseline design of single-case experimental research was used to study 3 case students.Behavioral contract was regarded as an independent variable.A dependent variable was intended to be high school students' academic self-reliance level and its' indexes included quantitative data analysis which had embraced the scores of Academic Self-reliance Questionnaire for Adolescent and the frequency of target behavior by using Observation Table of Academic Self-reliance Behavior of High School Students and consisted of insider report and researcher observation in qualitative report. There are three phrases. They are baseline period(1st-5th day)for one week, intervention period(6th-29 th day)for four weeks and follow-up period(30th-34 th day)for one week.In baseline period, this study collected quantitative data and qualitative report to to know and analyze the baseline level of high school students' academic self-reliance.In intervention period, behavioral contract intervention plans were used to intervene academic self-reliance level of three case students for 40 minutes six times a week over four weeks. Then the subjects were assessed comprehensively about their academic self-reliance level according to the frequency of target behavior, insider report and researcher observation report. At the end of the intervention, use Academic Self-reliance Questionnaire to make post-test for case students.Within a week after the intervention period, their level of academic self-reliance was evaluated again by the same questionnaire, table and report above. Then compared the level of academic self-reliance in this period with that in intervention period.Based on quantitative and qualitative analysis of three subjects, the result has demonstrated that behavioral contract intervention has improved the academic self-reliance level of three case students and the level of academic self-reliance behavior in the second and third period was higher than that in baseline period. This study has shown that it is effective to promote the self-reliance level of high school students by using behavioral contract method.
