In September 2016,the Ministry of Education of China issued the overall framework of the Core Competence for Chinese Student Development, the United States proposed 21 st Century Skills, the European Union proposed Key Competences, and Australia proposed Comprehensive Ability. The concept of talents in the new era has greatly promoted education reform. The traditional teaching model based on teacher lectures is far from meeting the needs of students to adapt to future social development, and how to train high-quality talents with comprehensive innovation capabilities has become a key issue that needs to be solved.Project-based learning is a teaching method that is based on constructivism and pragmatism, allowing students to acquire knowledge and improve practical inquiry ability in the process of solving real problems and completing tasks. Therefore,it is effective for optimizing teaching methods and cultivating comprehensive high-quality talents. This work is based on the design and practice of project-based learning in junior high school chemistry teaching.Firstly,we investigated the development status of project-based learning and the current status of teaching practice in our city, and then practiced and evaluated the project-based learning teaching mode in the chemistry class of junior high school.Through the investigation of the experimental group students' chemistry learning interest, academic performance, group collaboration ability, language expression ability,self-efficacy,scientific attitude and social responsibility,it was found that it is feasible to carry out project-based teaching in regular classrooms and it can effectively improve learning achievements and interest,self-efficacy,language expression and group collaboration skills, and also develop students' awareness of social participation. This research work is an exploration of the reform of the existing teaching model, which is significant for the implementation of subject literacy in the classroom and the promotion of the teaching reform.
