In the 21st century,the economy and science and technology are developing rapidly.The competition among countries is increasingly reflected in the competition between science and technology and talents.In order to adapt to social development,the concept of education also needs to continue to update,STEM education concept has been promoted by various countries with its unique advantages of interdisciplinary integrated teaching.The Opinions of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council on Deepening Education and Teaching Reform and Comprehensively Improving the Quality of Compulsory Education issued by the State Council in June 2019 pointed out: Exploring the integrated teaching of subject-based courses,and carrying out research-based,project-based,and cooperative learning.In this context,the project-based learning model based on the STEM concept is reflected in the training of talents.The forward-looking aspect is a new type of teaching mode that enables students to take root in the core literacy of the subject.This research is based on the "Compulsory Education Chemistry Curriculum Standards(2011 Edition)",combined with existing scholars' relevant research on STEM education and project-based learning,first,the design principles of project-based learning of junior high school chemistry based on STEM concepts are proposed;secondly,designs the operation process of project-based learning of junior high school chemistry based on STEM concepts;Finally,evaluation tools such as questionnaires,mutual evaluation forms for group members,teacher evaluation forms,and student interview outlines are compiled to understand the feedback results of students after completing project-based learning based on STEM concepts.Use the constructed theoretical framework to guide practical teaching,This study selects the topic 2 "Water Purification" in the fourth unit of the third grade Chemistry Book 1 of the People's Education Edition as the teaching content,carried out a project-based learning design based on the STEM concept,and determined "making a simple water purifier" as the project theme,and It was implemented in the third grade(2)of A School in Anyi County,Nanchang City.Using experimental research methods,questionnaire surveys and interview investigation methods,the project-based learning research based on STEM concepts was carried out in the experimental class,and the following research conclusions were drawn,The students' STEM literacy level based on chemistry subjects has been improved,and the specific performance is as follows:(1)Students can break the boundaries of disciplines and comprehensively apply STEM interdisciplinary knowledge to the learning of the chemistry class;(2)Students have an improved ability to unite and cooperate,solve practical problems,and practice inquiry;(3)Students have improved their thinking quality in using STEM interdisciplinary knowledge to solve complex chemical problems;(4)Students are more interested in STEM subjects(science,technology,engineering and mathematics).There are still some shortcomings in this study.The number of experimental samples is small,and the representativeness and generalization are not strong.The operation process of junior high school chemistry project-based learning based on the STEM concept needs to be improved.In the future chemistry classroom teaching,as many project-based teaching cases as possible are designed to expand the experimental objects and extend the experimental time.
