With the strengthening of the trend of economic globalization and the rapid development of science and technology, international competition has become more and more intense. The comprehensive improvement of citizens' scientific literacy has become an urgent task in today's society. This is an important step to enhance our comprehensive national power and international competitiveness. At the same time, research on scientific literacy is flourishing both domestically and internationally.Current international large-scale measures of student science literacy surveys include PISA,TIMSS,and NAEP.Based on international assessment items, domestic scholars have designed and developed localized science literacy assessment tools by combining theories such as ECD model and item response theory.Based on the ECD model, she analyzed the framework, content, test structure, student questionnaire and evaluation dimensions of the PISA assessment, and designed and developed a science literacy assessment tool in conjunction with Chinese elementary school science curriculum standards.A pre-experiment was conducted with the first-year students of S school in S city as the subjects of the assessment.Logistic models as well as GRM models were used to analyze the dichotomous data and polytomous data. The results show that most of the questions are of medium difficulty and have good discrimination.Students with moderate proficiency levels were able to provide the greatest amount of information with this assessment tool. The subjects' ability was overall at a moderate level. The assessment tool allows us to obtain results scientifically and objectively the level of scientific literacy of first-year junior high school students.A few individual test questions with problematic design were revised or deleted. The official test was administered to a total of 818 freshmen in the first year of T City D School and was administered at the beginning of September when they entered the school. The results were analyzed and the effects of demographic factors and scientific inquiry on student achievement in scientific literacy were explored. The results of the study showed that the science literacy assessment tool is reasonable and scientific, which meets the ability level of first-year students and can effectively measure and evaluate their science literacy level.
