The Compulsory Education Biology Curriculum Standards(2011 Edition)issued by the Ministry of Education points out the importance of "important concepts" in biology teaching and proposes "the study of important concepts in biology".According to the requirements of the curriculum standard,it is proposed to introduce Teaching for Understanding(TFU)mode into junior high school biology concept Teaching.Set illuminating issues(what teachers should teach),display "understanding target"(what a student should learn),to carry out the "understanding"(what can students do to reach the goal),implement the "sustainability assessment"(how do you know what students have reached the goal)four parts to study the main line,through practice,in order to effectively improve the quality of biology teaching in junior middle school,and provide reference experience and suggestions for the exploration and reform of biology teaching in junior middle school.First of all,on the basis of collecting and analyzing the domestic and foreign literature on TFU teaching mode,the author expounds its related concepts.Secondly,the practice of school teachers and students through questionnaires,interviews and other research methods to understand the teacher TFU teaching model,students' learning interest and core concepts to understand the status quo of the application,the constructivism theory,multiple intelligence theory and humanistic theory,under the guidance of formulation based on TFU teaching mode and implementation of a new type of case,Taking two parallel classes in the practice school as the object of this study,the teaching practice of biology concept in junior middle school is studied by using conventional teaching and TFU teaching mode respectively.Finally,the paper analyzes the final effect of concept teaching of TFU teaching mode and puts forward relevant suggestions.The research results show that the two classes with no difference in the biological level of pretest students,after a semester of teaching practice with different teaching modes,the average score of the post-test of biology test between the two classes is 70.59 for the control class and 78.75 for the experimental class.Paired sample T test is adopted,P=0.037<0.05,indicating that after the teaching practice,There is a significant difference in the results of biology between the two classes.Based on the analysis of students' questionnaire results and examination results,the effect of TFU teaching mode on biology concept teaching in junior middle school is obviously higher than that of conventional teaching mode.Applying TFU teaching mode to biology concept teaching in junior middle school can stimulate students' interest in biology learning,cultivate their ability to understand core concepts,improve students' academic performance,and also help improve teachers' professional skills.
