The new era of "information explosion" has brought new changes to the demand for talents:Social talents must possess complex problem-solving ability,critical thinking,exchanges and cooperation and other high-level thinking and complex skills to solve complex and real problems in the real world.Biology is a science that studies the phenomena and laws of life.And life concept is a high generalization of the law and essence of life.Therefore,the construction of life concept has become one of the objectives of biology curriculum in middle school.However,how to realize the deep understanding of biological concepts and construct life concept is an urgent problem to be solved.Performance task aims to provide students with complex problems in real situations.And it is an effective way to train students to use the concepts they have learned,to solve problems with higher-order thinking and complex skills,to understand concepts in depth and to construct life concept.Therefore,this research adopts literature method,teaching experiment method,action research method and other research methods.Moreover,the design and evaluation of performance task aimed at the construction of life concept are studied.In addition,the design framework for performance task used to construct life concept is developed to promote students' conceptual understanding and cross-context transfer of knowledge,and finally achieve the construction of life concept and the improvement of other high-level thinking.The study mainly includes the following two aspects:First,by means of literature research,domestic and foreign research results on design of performance task,conceptual understanding and the construction of life concept are analyzed and summarized.Based on the theories of learning progression,situational cognition and STEM education,a design framework for performance task aimed at the construction of life concept is developed.Second,according to the design framework for performance task used to construct life concept developed in this research,taking biology teaching content of middle school as material and designing specific biological discipline performance tasks.Through the teaching experiment and evaluation,the effectiveness of the performance task designed with the design framework for performance task for the construction of life concept developed by this research as the path is tested to promote the deep understanding of concept and the construction of life concept.Experimental result:First,there is no significant difference between the pre-test and post-test in the conceptual understanding level of the comparative class(p>0.05).And the level of conceptual understanding of the experimental class in the pre and post test is shown as:the post-test level is significantly higher than the pre-test level(p<0.05).Second,in the post-test,the level of conceptual understanding of the experimental class is significantly higher than that of the comparative class(p<0.05).Third,in the understanding level of single concept,the students in the experimental class are better than those in the comparative class,but there is no significant difference(p>0.05).The understanding level of the relationship between two or more concepts(generalization)between the students of the experimental class is significantly better than the students of the comparative class(p<0.05).Fourth,the level at which life concept is used to solve real problems across situations,the students in the comparative class can use the single form of words to explain and cannot correctly use life concept to explain daily phenomena,while the students in the experimental class can use various forms such as words and concept maps to explain the rough physiological processes underlying the daily phenomena with life concept.That is to say,the performance of students in the experimental class is better than that of students in the comparative class.Experiment conclusion:The performance task designed with the design framework for performance task for the construction of life concept as the path can significantly improve the student's level of conceptual understanding,the level of life concept and the ability to solve problems across situations.The design framework for performance task aimed at the construction of life concept is feasible and effective.
