Mathematical operation ability is the basic ability that junior middle school students must have in learning mathematics.Mathematical operation is one of the core qualities of mathematics,which will have an important impact on students’ ability training and intellectual development.Based on previous experience and research results,in this paper,the eighth grade students are investigated,the current situation and influencing factors of the eighth grade students’ mathematical operation ability are analyzed,and then suggestions to cultivate students’ mathematical operation ability are put forward.Literature research,investigation and analysis are adopted in this research.Based on the previous experience,the test question,questionnaire and teacher,interview of Grade eight student are compiled.The students of Grade eight in the internship school are selected for investigation,and eight mathematical teachers are interviewed.The collected test questions and questionnaire date are analyzed.Combined with the interview results,the factors affecting students’ mathematical operation ability are summarized.The test results show that the eighth grade students perform well in understanding the operation object and using formulas and rules,but they can’t deal with the problems with strong comprehensiveness flexibly,and need to be further improved in the selection of mathematical methods and simplifying the operation process.From the perspective of gender,the average level of female is better than that of male students,but the answer to questions with high degree is not as good as that of male students.Gender has no significant impact on mathematical operation ability.According to the results of questionnaire and teacher interview,the factors restricting the mathematical operation ability of eighth grade students are:(1)students’ poor operation habits;(2)students’ poor mastery of basic knowledge;(3)students’ learning attitude is not correct;(4)student can’t flexibly apply mathematical ideas and methods in questions.In view of the above research results,four suggestions are put forward,which are as follows:(1)pay attention to cultivating students’ good computing habits;(2)attach importance to the teaching of basic knowledge of operation;(3)pay attention to improving students’ learning attention;(4)strengthen the infiltration of mathematical thinking methods.
