With the progress of society and the continuous advancement of curriculum reform,more attention is paid to the cultivation of learners' advanced abilities such as problem solving ability and critical thinking in teaching.Due to the complexity and abstractness of number and algebra,students are not enthusiastic about learning the content in this field and the learning effect is not good.PBL(Problem-based Learning)is a problem-driven teaching mode in which teachers organize students to conduct group cooperative Learning by creating Problem situations and guide students to discover,explore and solve problems.This model gives full play to the subject status of students' learning and aims to promote students' deep learning,which is consistent with the basic concept of curriculum reform.Therefore,how to effectively apply PBL teaching mode in "number and algebra" classroom teaching is of great significance.This paper studies the application of PBL teaching model in number and algebra teaching of grade 4-6 in primary schools.Firstly,the connotation of PBL teaching model was clarified by literature research method.Cooperative learning theory,deep learning theory,situational cognition theory and zone of proximal development theory were taken as the theoretical basis of PBL teaching model,and the suitability of PBL teaching model in the number and algebra teaching of grade 4-6 in primary schools was analyzed.Secondly,classroom observation and interview survey were used to understand the application status of PBL in the number and algebra teaching of grade 4-6 in primary schools,and the existing problems were comprehensively analyzed.Again,in view of the problems existing in the application strategy is put forward,mainly combined with PBL teaching mode theory and the connotation,4 to 6 grade number and algebra of the characteristics of the teaching content is put forward the designing principles of math problems,and from the preparation,teaching objectives,teaching activities,teaching evaluation of the four aspects of construction of PBL mode 4 to 6 grade the application of number and algebra teaching strategies,Then the teaching case is introduced in detail.Finally,the PBL teaching case design was applied to two classes with similar levels in grade six,one for experimental class and the other for control class.By observing the behavior of students in the experimental class and control class in class,SPSS25.0 was used to make statistics and analysis of the unit scores of the experimental class and control class,and the experimental effect was obtained.Research shows that: the PBL teaching mode can not only improve the students' learning motivation and problem consciousness,strengthen students' ability to analyze problems,solve problems,to cultivate students' critical thinking,and can also improve the students' learning autonomy and team cooperation ability,promote students better understand and apply knowledge,improve the students' academic performance.
