In recent years,with the deepening of relations between China and Belarus as well as deepening of political and economic exchanges,the number of people learning Chinese in Belarus has been increasing,showing a trend among people of middle school age.Many primary and secondary schools have implemented Chinese courses to their curriculum.Therefore,there is a significant importance of compiling localized Chinese textbooks suitable for Belarusian middle school students.On the basis of analyzing Belarusian foreign language syllabus and understanding the overall goals of teaching Chinese language in Belarusian middle schools,this research refers to analyzing the framework of Chinese textbooks localization offered by Chinese and foreign scholars,and uses content analysis,interview method,and comparative analysis.Material for conducting detailed investigation and analysis of localization characteristics is the phonetics,vocabulary,grammar and cultural content of the 3-11 th grade Belarusian Chinese Language textbooks.The research came to the following conclusions: localization characteristics of “Hàny?”,which is a series of textbooks for Belarusian middle schools,are mainly reflected in the language elements and cultural elements.In terms of content,the arrangement sequence of language elements,the explanation of language elements,the way of practicing language elements,and the selection of cultural content reflect the distinctive localization characteristics.The way to present localized content is to show the localized characteristics of textbooks based on language comparison,cultural comparison,learners' cultural awareness,Chinese knowledge level,and students' personality characteristics.The study found that “Hàny?” textbook also has certain disadvantages in its content design,such as the lack of audio recordings in the teaching content of phonetics,the lack of explanation of parts of speech and the meaning of Chinese characters in the vocabulary content.Disadvantage of grammar content is the lack of systematic and contrastive exercises for the grammar points that do not have a clear corresponding in Russian-Chinese grammar system.In addition,“Hàny?” also lacks the systematic reflection and practice of Chinese character teaching content,which means that this textbook it is more inclined to develop Chinese oral communication skills than writing.On this basis,this paper puts forward targeted strategies for the improvement and further development of Belarusian Chinese language textbooks for middle school.It is hoped that in the future,Chinese textbooks with localized characteristics,which reflect physical and mental development of Belarusian middle school students,can be compiled,so as to improve their Chinese knowledge level and to promote language and cultural exchange between Belarus and China.
