Based on the author's teaching practice in Nakhon Nayok Witthayakhom School in Thailand,this paper discusses the application of the Theme-based Teaching Mode in Thai middle school Chinese classroom by analyzing specific cases.First of all,by reviewing the literature,the paper determines the three theoretical bases of the Theme-based Teaching Mode,which are Constructive Learning Theory,Multiple Intelligence Theory and Activity Theory,and then summarizes the connotation and characteristics of the mode.Secondly,the paper analyzes the feasibility and advantages of Theme-based Teaching Mode from the actual situation of Chinese teaching in middle schools in Thailand.The current Chinese teaching objectives and students' situation in Thai middle schools are in line with the concept of Theme-based Teaching Mode,so the application of the mode has strong feasibility,and has unique advantages,in particular,application of Theme-based Teaching Mode has the following advantages: one is to help Chinese volunteer teachers enhance the consistency of teaching;second,it can help students to enhance the effect of Chinese learning;third,it can alleviate the bad influence caused by the problem of teaching materials.Thirdly,after comparative analysis of some Chinese textbooks currently used in Thailand,the author finally selected the first and second volumes of Experience of Chinese(Thai Edition)for junior middle school students as reference textbooks.Then,according to the outline of Chinese elective courses for the junior middle school and reference textbooks of teaching schools,the specific content of Theme-based Teaching Mode is determined through layer upon layer integration,and the four themes of "character introduction","number","diet" and " sports " are obtained,and the teaching content is designed around the theme in turn.On this basis,taking the second level theme of "date and festival" under the theme of "number" as an example,it shows and compares two different teaching cases based on the concept of traditional teaching mode and Theme-based Teaching Mode.The last part is the effect evaluation,comparing the two semesters that were not used and used those that were taught using the Theme-based Teaching Mode,evaluate the students' learning attitude and two semester grades,found that the students' participation in class activities and the completion of homework were improved in the semester using the Theme-based Teaching Mode,and the whole class students' Chinese grade also has some increase in general.It is proved that the mode can promote and improve students' Chinese learning to some extent.At the same time,the Theme-based Teaching Mode also has some problems during use,such as the content of theme is not unified,the teaching progress is not easy to grasp,and the classroom order is easy to appear local chaos.Therefore,the following suggestions are put forward.Teachers should make full preparations before teaching in Thailand.After the appointment,teachers should first do a good job of teaching docking;second,in and out of the classroom through various ways to timely understand the learning needs of students;third,students' different Chinese acquisition levels should be taken into full consideration;fourth,we should pay attention to classroom management in class.It is hoped that the analysis and discussion of this paper can provide some reference for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language.
