In the current history teaching in China, textbooks are the main tools for teachers, also the most important study materials for students. In the information age, both teachers and students have more access to knowledge, but according to the actual situation of Chinese education, the position of textbooks in secondary history education remains unchanged. With the further advancement of China's educational reform, textbooks are bound to be updated in response to the times. In the autumn of 2019,the unified version of senior high school history textbooks based on the 2017 version of senior high school history curriculum standards was put into use in Beijing and Shanghai, which means that the fourth version of textbooks based on the 2003 version of history curriculum standards will gradually withdraw from the stage of history education. As a new generation of textbooks compiled under the guidance of "one standard, one book",the unified history textbook is different from the old textbook in many aspects, such as compiling ideas, textbook style, content selection, supporting system application. Therefore, history teachers urgently need to have a deep understanding of the changes of the new textbook. In this paper, the widely used senior high school history textbooks of 2007 PEP Edition and Unified Edition are selected as the research objects for comparative analysis. In this paper, the content of "Cold War History" in the two editions is taken as the research object.Firstly, the theoretical basis of the two editions is compared from the curriculum standards on which the two editions are based, reflecting the changes in curriculum content, curriculum objectives, curriculum evaluation of the 2017 edition of high school history curriculum standards.Secondly, this paper discussed the similarities and differences between the two editions in terms of textbook structure and textbook content, demonstrating the adaptability of the new "general history + special topics" textbook to students' cognitive structure, and the focus on the general trend of historical development rather than single knowledge points in the textbook content.Thirdly, this paper made a comparative analysis on the introduction, picture and various auxiliary columns in the two editions of textbooks, showing that the unified edition has stronger integration of the auxiliary systems and the text content, and better cooperation between the auxiliary systems. Finally, according to the characteristics of the unified textbook, this paper puts forward some teaching suggestions and cases on the content of "Cold War History",hoping to provide reference and help for front-line history teachers.
