The 19 th Party Congress put forward the general requirement of rural revitalization strategy,calling for accelerating the modernization of agriculture and rural areas and taking the road of socialist rural revitalization with Chinese characteristics.A large number of talents were needed to achieve rural revitalization.The indispensable talent of the rural revitalization team was composed of the highly respected and talented people in the countryside,they played the role of " New Rural Elites " and became the "boosters" for rural revitalization,playing an important role in promoting rural development."Focus on playing the role of rural teachers new rural elites to demonstrate and lead" was clearly pointed out in the?Opinions on strengthening the construction of rural teachers in the new era?by the Ministry of Education and other six departments in 2020.Therefore,as a cultural person in the countryside,rural biology teachers should actively assume the role of the new rural elites and play a model leadership role.Rural biology teachers in Liaoning Province were used as research subjects,a combination of questionnaire and interview methods was used for this study,the current situation of rural biology teachers assumed the role of new rural elites was studied in five dimensions: prosperous industry,ecological livability,civilized countryside,effective governance,and affluent life.Based on the survey results,the role played by rural biology teachers in Liaoning Province in the above five dimensions was in the middle to upper level,among which the role played in the civilization of the countryside was larger,and the role played in rural governance needs to be improved.At the same time,the willingness to serve the countryside was possessed by most rural biology teachers,but fewer of them put it into action.Factors affecting the role of rural biology teachers as new rural elites were dissected and found that,on the one hand,it was attributed to the teachers' own lack of will and local sentiment;serious thoughts of leaving the farm and lack of professional belonging;insufficient knowledge reserve,lack of cultural capital and other subjective factors.On the other hand,it involved the absence of social,school and family support and other objective factors.To promote the role of new rural elites to be more excellently assumed by rural biology teachers in Liaoning Province,four suggestions were put forward:(1)Clear attribution and capacity boosting.Rural biology teachers enhanced their self-awareness and knowledge,they had the ability to take on the role of new rural elites.(2)Management innovation and reasonable constraints.Schools innovated teaching management systems to provide time and support for rural teachers to serve the countryside.(3)Local and school association for joint development.Local-school partnerships set the stage for rural biology teachers to transform the perception of new rural elites by local governments and townspeople.(4)Regulating behavior and institutional improvement.The behavior of rural teachers assuming the role of new rural elites was regulated by specific and actionable policies developed by the state to ensure their proper direction.At the end of this study,it was looked forward to the simultaneous efforts of the four aspects to promote more biology teachers to better exemplify leadership role of new rural elites,respond to the national call and contribut to rural revitalization.
