"Foster character and civic virtue" is the fundamental mission of China’s education.Physical education,as an important part of school education, plays an irreplaceable role in the process of implementing the mission of "Foster character and civic virtue".How to better play the nurturing value of physical education is a major issue for school physical education practitioners and researchers.TPSR(Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility)is a teaching model that aims to develop students’ sense of responsibility and positive attitude towards life through physical activities. In this study,a quasi-experimental design was conducted to integrate the TPSR teaching model into the high school soccer curriculum.By discussing the differences in the effects of the TPSR model and the traditional physical education teaching model on students’ sense of responsibility, physical fitness, and soccer skills in the high school soccer curriculum, understand the practical application effect of the TPSR model in the high school sports curriculum in our country, for the future application of TPSR teaching mode in school sports in our country application and research provide practical and theoretical basis. The research mainly adopts the methods of literature review, questionnaire survey, teaching experiment, mathematical statistics, and so on.Taking two administrative classes of sophomore students in a high school in Guangzhou were used as experimental subjects,in which 47 students(35 males and 12 females)in the experimental group were taught in the TPSR teaching mode and 48 students(35 males and 13 females)in the control group were taught in the traditional physical education teaching mode. The following results were obtained from the analysis of the experimental data using independent sample t-test and paired sample t-test for 12 weeks and a total of 24 lessons: 1.The post-test scores of students in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group on the SRIPES scale, with significant differences in the dimensions of effort, respect for others, and helping others(p<0.05),and very significant differences in the dimensions of selfdirection(p<0.01).In the intra-group comparison, the experimental group showed significant differences(p<0.01)in the pre-and post-test scores of each dimension, while the control group showed no significant differences in the pre-and post-test scores of each dimension.2.The post-test scores of physical fitness between the experimental group and the control group did not show significant differences;however,in the intra-group comparison, the endurance quality of students in the experimental group improved more significantly, with significant differences in 800m(females)(p<0.05)and 1000m(males)(p<0.01),while there was no significant improvement in 50 m running and standing long jump.3.There was a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group(P < 0.01),but there was no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group(P< 0.01).The results of the study conclude that a high school soccer curriculum designed and implemented based on the TPSR model can not only effectively develop students’ soccer skills, but also improve students’ physical quality to varying degrees, and more importantly, have advantages that cannot be matched by traditional physical education models in terms of cultivating students’ sense of personal and social responsibility. Therefore,in the future process of school physical education reform,it is recommended that the TPSR model be incorporated into the practice and research of more related programs to explore a more comprehensive and effective implementation pathway for physical education that is in line with the spirit of "Foster character and civic virtue".
