After treatment and discharge, patients with mental disorders need to carry out home rehabilitation in the community, and their families bear the main care responsibility of daily life. However, due to the physiological and social particularity of mental disorders, the care experience of family members is poor, and they are prone to negative emotions in the process of caring for patients with mental disorders.Emotion regulation refers to the process in which individuals manage and change their own or others' emotions.Emotion regulation strategies are the strategies adopted to regulate emotions. The most commonly used strategies are cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression.Starting from the two dimensions of cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression, this study studied the improvement of emotional regulation strategies of family members of patients with mental disorders by group work intervention. In the early stage, the author investigated the emotion of family members of patients with mental disorders in Y community of Chengdu and the current situation of common emotion regulation strategies to evaluate the needs and problems; Then, the emotion regulation process model based on emotion regulation theory takes "external situation internal cognition response adjustment" as the theoretical basis for the design and development of group activities, provides group services for the families of patients with mental disorders in need, and comprehensively uses scale method, interview method and participatory observation method to evaluate the effectiveness of group work intervention. This study found that: the families of patients with mental disorders have many negative emotions, and there are emotional needs to more effectively cognitive emotion, express emotion, alleviate negative emotion and control negative emotion, but it is difficult to choose reasonable emotion regulation strategies to regulate emotion, lack of cognitive reappraisal strategies at the cognitive level, and it is difficult to reasonably use expressive suppression strategies at the expressive level.Through group work, family members can help their families improve their emotional adjustment strategies in their interaction and sharing, adjust emotions and reduce negative emotions in specific situations, and group work intervention is feasible. This paper can provide a new idea for social work to intervene in the emotional problems of family members of patients with mental disorders, and also provide a certain reference for the fine research of community rehabilitation of mental disorders.
