Since the reform and opening up,while the economy in China has made remarkable achievements,energy consumption has also risen,causing a series of environmental problems.The sustainable development of energy is related to all aspects of our society and is an important factor to ensure the operation of society.China coincides with the opening time of the "14th Five-Year Plan" period,and the central government has recently proposed the goals of "carbon neutrality" and "carbon peaking".Based on this background,accurate measurement of China’s energy efficiency,evaluation from static and dynamic perspectives,and analysis of its influencing factors from a spatial perspective can not only have a clearer understanding of China’s provincial-level energy efficiency,but also identify differences.Targeted suggestions can also be put forward,which is of great significance for China to achieve comprehensive,green and sustainable energy development at an early date and help achieve the goals of "carbon neutrality" and "carbon peaking".Based on relevant theories,this thesis firstly uses SWOT analysis to carry out relevant research on the current situation of China’s energy evolution.Secondly,an SBM-Undesirable model is constructed to measure the energy efficiency of 30 provinces,municipalities and autonomous regions in China(excluding Hong Kong,Macao,Taiwan and Tibet)from 2000 to 2019.Then,based on the Malmquist index model,this thesis decomposes energy efficiency into technological progress efficiency,pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency,and evaluates energy efficiency from a dynamic perspective.Finally,this thesis examines the influencing factors of energy efficiency by constructing a bias-corrected spatial Durbin model.The conclusions mainly include the following points.First,opportunities and challenges coexist in the process of the energy development,and the problems faced cannot be ignored.Second,the average energy efficiency of China’s overall energy efficiency is 0.671.In terms of grouping,China’s low-efficiency areas account for the largest proportion;in terms of sub-regions,the eastern region has the highest efficiency,followed by the western and central regions,and finally the northeastern region.Third,China’s energy efficiency maintained a positive development trend from 2000 to 2019;from the perspective of the decomposition index,it is mainly caused by the proliferation of the technological progress change index;in terms of provinces,there are differences between regions,and most provincial energy efficiency shows an increasing trend,and most of it is owing to the proliferation of technological progress index.Fewer provinces are driven by technological progress efficiency,pure technical efficiency or scale efficiency;In terms of sub-regions,the energy efficiency of the four areas has increased during the inspection period,and they are all driven by the efficiency of technological progress.The eastern region grows the fastest,followed by the central,western,and finally the northeastern region.Finally,there is a spatial correlation in inter-provincial energy efficiency in China.Specifically,the industrial structure and economic development level not only have a positive impact on the improvement of energy efficiency in the area,but also have spillover effects;government influence can promote the improvement of energy efficiency in the region,but has no impact on neighboring regions;foreign direct investment shows a negative impact on the improvement of energy efficiency in the area,and has no significant impact on neighboring regions;the relationship between energy efficiency and urbanization level presents an "inverted Ushaped" relationship in a certain region.Moreover,the improvement of the urbanization level of a region will have a spillover effect,which will drive the improvement of energy efficiency in neighboring regions.In summary,this thesis puts forward the following policy recommendations:(1)According to local conditions,fully improve the pure technology and scale efficiency of the energy industry;(2)Upgrade the industrial structure and promote green development;(3)Raise the standards for foreign investment and create a good environment for cooperation;(4)Give play to the positive role of government influence and ensure government investment;(5)Improve the quality of urbanization and achieve coordinated development.
