Developing Strategy Of Suzhou Rural Embroidery Industry Based On “Diamond Model”

The No.1 central government document issued in February 2022 put forward comprehensive guidance on the work of “Agriculture,Rural areas and Farmers”,it clearly stated that a focus should be placed on industrial development to promote rural revitalization,especially to explore the various values of rural areas and improve the rural industrial system to promote a stable and sustained increase in farmers’ income.Zhenhu,as a representative of the economically developed rural areas,is located in Suzhou High-tech Zone.Embroidery is not only a popular family sideline for rural women in Zhenhu,but also an important industry that affects the local rural finance.Studying the development of the rural embroidery industry in Zhenhu and grasping its internal logic is of great enlightenment significance to realize the revitalization of the rural industries in the whole southern Jiangsu region.This paper takes Suzhou embroidery industry in Zhenhu rural areas as the research object.On the basis of consulting and sorting out the articles and materials about the history of Zhenhu village,Suzhou embroidery industry,industrial chain and industrial cluster,I visited the embroidery production points and sales concentration points in Zhenhu rural areas to obtain the the real data and materials about the local rural embroidery industry operation and evolution.In the process of field investigation,I conducted semi-structured interviews with practitioners of Zhenhu embroidery industry and supporting industries,embroidery inheritance masters and the staff of relevant departments,and obtained a lot of interview content.Finally,a rich interview content was obtained.After that,relying on Porter’s “Diamond model”,this paper analyzes the development of the rural Suzhou embroidery industry in Zhenhu from six aspects: production factors,market conditions,related supporting industry,industry competition,government role and development opportunities.Benefit from the unique geographical location condition of Zhenhu town,embroidery industry has formed agglomeration and scale effect gradually in local countryside now.With the huge scale of embroidery practitioners,the formation of a complete industrial chain such as creative design,printing and printing,wiring and frame,logistics and transportation,as well as the centralized embroidery production and marketing of embroidery street and the high-grade display of Chinese embroidery art museum,the embroidery industry gradually gathered an industrial cluster in Zhenhu Town.After years of accumulated experience,the management mode of embroidery product and sales channel are diversified ceaselessly.At the same time,rural embroidery female go abroad one after another and developed boldly in the world market,pushed Zhenhu embroidery to international embroidery market.However,when Suzhou embroidery industry in Zhenhu town is in a critical period of transformation,the construction and cultivation of Suzhou embroidery practitioners are hindered by the old way of skill inheritance and the current way of inheritance cannot meet the needs of innovation and upgrading of embroidery craft.The market positioning of Suzhou embroidery products deviates from the real demand,which also weakens the market competitiveness of Suzhou embroidery products in rural areas of Zhenhu town to a certain extent.In addition to the homogenization of stitching and skills,the contradiction of concepts between new and old embroidery women is becoming more and more obvious,and the quality of the supporting tools produced by Suzhou embroidery is also uneven.At the same time,the local government’s participation and support for the embroidery industry is still not enough.It is difficult for the existing public cultural distribution platform to deepen the public cognition of the embroidery industry in Zhenhu countryside.As a result,embroidery participants in the local rural areas could not have fair access to development resources,and the lack of public infrastructure also hindered the embroidery industry to maintain a long-term positive development trend.In order to break through the existing bottleneck on the development road of rural Suzhou embroidery industry in Zhenhu town,we must first strengthen the training and management of rural embroidery practitioners and inheritors,and innovate the current talent training mechanism and skill inheritance mode.Secondly,it is necessary to return to the life value of Suzhou embroidery on the value positioning of product products,strictly check the quality of embroidery products,and promote the benign development of the embroidery market.Moreover,we must attach importance to the reform and innovation of Suzhou embroidery industry handicraft,and encourage the embroidery women to use new technology,so that we can explore the renewal and upgrading of Suzhou embroidery technology.The breakthrough of embroidery industry must have the support of supporting industry,and high-quality embroidery tools are the necessary conditions for the improvement of Suzhou embroidery skills.The departments concerned should attach importance to the improvement of the industrial rules and market order of the supporting industries,and provide qualified production tools for embroidery production.The government should also further strengthen the construction of hardware facilities and software service upgrading of Zhenhu embroidery industry,so as to promote the organic combination of embroidery industry and local rural tourism,and create more new opportunities for the prosperous development of embroidery industry in Zhenhu rural areas.Southern Jiangsu province is the lead in economic development in China,grasping the development law of Zhenhrural embroidery industry,exploring the experience of realizing more benefits of handicraft production in rural areas,are helpful to give full play to the exemplary role of the prosperity and development of rural economy in southern Jiangsu province,help the whole province and even the whole country to open a new path of characteristic industries to get rich,and stimulate the sustainable and stronger vitality of rural development.
