Based on the transaction cost and social exchange theory,the construction project itself has strong uncertainties,and the cooperation behavior of each participant based on their own interests will be significantly negatively affected,which in turn will have a negative impact on the project performance.Therefore,in the relationship between the uncertainty of the construction project and the project performance,the cooperative behavior of each participant,as the mediating variable between the two,will be of great significance to the improvement of the project performance.At the same time,it is found that the cooperation behavior of each participant in a construction project is affected by factors such as management,information exchange,and collaborative communication.The application of BIM technology will effectively strengthen the management level of all parties to the project,promote information exchange and sharing,and improve mutual cooperation and communication.Multi-faceted capabilities,reduce the occurrence of uncertain situations,promote the smooth and efficient development of cooperative behaviors,and then improve project performance.This study firstly uses the literature study method to systematically grasp the research context of the uncertainty of construction projects,the cooperative behavior of each participant,BIM capabilities,and project performance,and then proposes a conceptual model and research hypotheses to explore the role of each participant’s cooperative behavior in "construction project uncertainty".The intermediary relationship between nature and project performance,as well as the moderating relationship of BIM capability to "construction project uncertainty-cooperative behavior of each participant",aims to determine the principle and path of improving project performance.Secondly,85 valid questionnaires were obtained in the questionnaire pre-survey,and the reliability and validity of the small sample data were tested by Smart PLS 3.0 software,and the questionnaire was improved on the basis of the presurvey results.Then,a large number of questionnaires were distributed to the respondents in the construction field.Using the partial least squares structural equation model(PLS-SEM)method,the collected 391 groups of valid data samples were analyzed by Smart PLS 3.0software for measurement model and structural model and obtained draw conclusions.The results show that the uncertainty of construction projects has a significant negative impact on the in-role and out-role cooperation behavior of each participant.The in-role and out-role cooperation behavior of each participant has a significant positive impact on project performance.The mediating effect of each participant’s cooperative behavior on the uncertainty of construction project and project performance is significant.A high level of BIM capability has no significant moderating effect on the uncertainty of construction projects-cooperative behavior within the roles of each participant,but has a significant negative moderating effect on the uncertainty of construction projects-cooperative behavior outside the role of each participant,that is,a high level of the BIM capability of each participant significantly positively affects the out-of-role cooperation behavior of each participant,and further significantly positively affects the project performance.This study theoretically analyzes the path to improve project performance under the uncertainty of construction projects,from the in-role and out-role cooperation behavior of each participant in the project process as an intermediate variable,and the impact of BIM capabilities on construction project uncertainty-each participant.From the perspective of the moderating role of the cooperative behavior of the parties,the potential relationship between the variables is established,and the quantitative research on the impact mechanism of project performance is deepened.At the same time,the research is of great significance in helping managers reduce and control project uncertainties with the help of BIM capabilities at the practical level,actively promote the cooperative behavior of all participants,and improve project performance.
