With the rapid development of urbanization in the past decade or so,there has been a disorderly expansion of urban construction,leading to the gradual intensification of global climate problems and the emergence of the "heat island effect".Climate change has led to the intensification of the heat and humidity environment in the streets of cities and towns,and poor thermal comfort.As a densely populated interaction place in towns and cities,with the improvement of living standards of residents and visitors,people’s requirements for them have changed from meeting the simple daily shopping needs in the past to have a comfortable experience in the shopping environment now.To improve the thermal comfort of urban commercial streets,this paper analyzes the climate characteristics of hot and humid summer areas and selects Chongqing,a typical representative area of high humidity and high heat in summer,as the entry point for theoretical and practical research.This thesis focuses on the correlation between human thermal comfort perception,thermal comfort improvement factors and climate,microclimate,human behavioral activities,and aesthetic factors of the street itself in urban commercial streets.Through theoretical and practical research,we analyze the correlation between climate,microclimatic factors,human behavioral activities,psychological factors,and aesthetic factors of the street itself and thermal comfort factors,and through such correlation,we further explore the renovation design strategy of Chongqing’s urban commercial streets based on thermal comfort improvement mechanism,to provide a renovation design strategy for Chongqing’s urban commercial streets with human comfort as the first priority,without destroying the original It is hoped to provide a renovation design strategy with aesthetics and aesthetics under the principle of traditional appearance of Chongqing towns.The thesis consists of the following parts.Chapter 1: The current status of domestic and foreign research and related theories are sorted out,and the climatic characteristics of hot and humid summer regions are analyzed,the object and scope of this study are defined,Chongqing is selected as a typical hot and humid climate region for the study,and a preliminary judgment is made on the current status of research on thermal comfort improvement mechanisms in urban commercial streets at home and abroad.Chapter 2: By studying the climatic characteristics of Chongqing,street microclimate influencing factors,the association between human behavioral activities and thermal comfort factors,and the association between thermal comfort factors and street aesthetic factors in urban commercial streets,we provide theoretical research content on the thermal comfort improvement mechanism in urban commercial streets,and also analyze the association between the real factors of its improvement mechanism and the characteristic design elements of urban commercial streets.Chapter 3: Through the research on the streets of Chongqing towns,the correlation between the spatial and temporal human flow and behavioral activities and climate is analyzed.Focused empirical research was conducted on the old town commercial street of Wujia Town in Chongqing,and data were collected separately for the design elements associated with thermal comfort as summarized in the previous theoretical study,and the degree of association between their design elements and thermal comfort was analyzed based on their data.At the same time,human behavioral activities and psychological thermal factors were recorded in this township commercial street by means of questionnaires and behavioral observation records.The research data and data analysis in this chapter form a mutually validating research idea with Chapter 2.Chapter 4: Based on the theoretical and practical research on the thermal comfort factors of urban commercial streets,as well as climate,microclimate,psychological factors of human behavioral activities,and street aesthetic factors in Chapters 2 and 3,four different model units of urban commercial street renovation design strategies are derived,which are the adaptation and improvement strategies under the climate adaptation mechanism,the penetration and transformation strategies under the microclimate improvement mechanism,the transition and extension strategies under the combination mechanism of human flow,spatial and behavioral activities and thermal comfort,and the continuation and breakthrough strategies under the combination mechanism of street aesthetic factors and thermal comfort in a synergistic mode.Chapter 5: According to the four different mode strategies proposed in Chapter 4,four different mode strategies are applied for Wannian Street in Wujia Town,Chongqing,to practically apply the theoretical research in the previous paper.Some transformation design ideas are proposed for these four-mode strategies in terms of landscape-scale,functional layout,external form,and spatial design of the town commercial street.Chapter 6: Summarizes the thesis statement,presents the shortcomings of the research and the prospect of future research.
