In the economic globalization and rapid urbanization background, some construction of town blindly imitate, innovation and beg ocean phenomenon, resulted in some urban into thousands of the city side of the town. In order to improve the urban image, form a unique characteristic of town, many domestic and foreign experts devote into town image characteristic study. However, the theory on the construction of urban image characteristic is still lack. This pace is based on practical project of Meihe road of Lu’an Shucheng Commercial Street Urban Design,the field research on Wangfujing street in Beijing, the theory limitation of contemporary Chinese urban image characteristic crisis and construction characteristics of urban image.It argues the thoughtway of commercial street urban design which is based on construction of characteristics of urban image.It takes the Meihe road of Lu’an Shucheng County Commercial Street Urcan Design of empirical research and investigation Beijing Wangfujing Street as examples, attempts to explore the town image features based on the construction of City Commercial Street, the basic idea of the design method and principle.First, appraises the resources of characteristics of urban image. Then, epurates the symbols of characteristics of Urban Image.Thirdly,designs the outer space of commercial street with the symbols, forming a comfortable shopping and leisure space with characteristics of geographical cultural and time character.It grasps the basic principle of spatial proposition, based on the principle of rational perception principle, deepen the integration principle.
