The unremitting progress of science and technology offers China the boasted internationally competitive advantages in equipment manufacturing.While the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released a Made in China(MIC)2025 document in 2015 pushing for leadership in equipment manufacturing,among other sectors,current industrial equipment is far from the best scheme in ease-to-use as this field is experiencing a shift from general pursuit of functional techniques to human-oriented efforts.Revolving around usability,this paper was to provide user-friendly mechanical equipment operations and improve human-machine interaction.Firstly,in this paper,the design of the existing control interface was investigated on the principles of ease-of-use,hence the necessity of usability-centered large-scale industrial equipment.Secondly,a decision-making method and its implementation steps of multi-dimensional perceptual demand-based design for large-scale equipment with visual weight as the primary perceptual demand were proposed from the perspective of visual-tactile synesthesia.The visual weight was integrated into the CMF design of printing equipment.Then,a usability evaluation experiment was conducted of four buttons with different visual perceptions,in a bid to find out which is with best usability and to summarize their characteristics.Finally,following the above-mentioned work,design practice was done in unit type intaglio press for cigarette packing from Shaanxi Beiren Printing Machinery Co.,Ltd.,whereby form design,usability and the CMF design were evaluated via the analytic hierarchy process(AHP)and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation(FCE).The comprehensive evaluation proved that visual-tactile interaction could help improve the usability of large equipment effectively.Establishing its theoretical ground on synesthesia effect under visual-tactile interaction,this paper intended to make large-scale industrial equipment more user-friendly.It enriched the theoretical research on usability,constructed an evaluation system of usability,and furthered the application of visual-tactile interaction theory in design practice.Thus,it was of great significance in guiding the way to improve usability of large-scale industrial equipment and the brand image.
