Since the covid-19 outbreak,it has become common for people to test for novel coronavirus nucleic acid,and in vitro diagnostic reagents have gradually entered the public’s view.In vitro diagnostic reagents are a kind of special medical devices,the production and sales of which are also under the strict supervision of the Food and Drug Administration.They are a kind of product for in vitro detection of human samples by biological and chemical methods.They are mainly used in laboratory departments or physical examination centers in hospitals,and is an auxiliary means for clinical diagnosis and treatment.Compared with most medical devices,in vitro diagnostic reagents have the characteristics of small size and high added value,and their storage and transportation have very strict requirements.In recent ten years,with the in-depth development of in vitro diagnostic reagents,the types and specifications of the products are becoming more and more,inventory management becomes complex,inventory problems begin to become prominent.Such as the products overstocked seriously,and finally they were expired and scrapped;Or the forecast was wrong and the products cannot be supplied to the hospital or the examination institution in time.As people pay more and more attention to the prevention and diagnosis of diseases,the number of patients received by physical examination institutions and hospitals is increasing year by year,the demand of in vitro diagnostic reagents is also increasing.The diagnostic products need to supply continuously with no shortage.It is a great challenge for in vitro diagnostic reagents to improve inventory management,optimize demand forecasting,ensure stable and sustainable supply,and maintain reasonable inventory level.This thesis mainly adopts case analysis method to study inventory management from diagnostic raw materials to products from the perspective of in vitro diagnostic reagent manufacturers.Firstly,the characteristics and difficulties of diagnostic products inventory management are analyzed.Based on the characteristics of inventory management,the products are classified and the problems in inventory management are discussed.Secondly,this thesis selected a typical enterprise M company as a case for analysis,conducted interviews with relevant personnel of inventory management,By collecting and sorting relevant data,found that M company had problems such as chaotic management of raw materials,poor accuracy of demand forecast and high inventory level.Finally,we combined with the inventory management theory,use of forecasting model,STATA tool,Poisson Distribution method to optimize the inventory management of M company’s different categories of products,improve the prediction accuracy,set a reasonable order point,reduce the inventory level.Inventory management is an important part of supply chain management,its development and application has a history of more than 100 years.It is of great practical significance to apply the theory of inventory management effectively to the field of medical devices and realize the optimization of inventory management.
