As urban development shifts from incremental mode to stock mode, and local governments are practicing refined management, constructing pocket parks by using the monstrous plots has become an important initiative.Pocket parks have become a good supplement to urban parks because they are small, convenient and ubiquitous, addressing the needs of people in high-density urban centers for a restful environment. In recent years, many cities have built pocket parks on a large scale, but there is a lack of adequate evaluation of the use of these parks. Most of the studies have focused on the physical environment of pocket parks for purely aesthetic evaluation, but the evaluation of the social environment and social practices has not been given sufficient attention. Therefore, this study selects residential pocket parks as the research object, and conducts a comprehensive post occupancy evaluation of physical comfort, site participation, and social environment elements of pocket parks, which has significant theoretical and practical significance.Firstly, this article identifies the concept of residential pocket parks and describes the current status of research on pocket parks and the application of post occupancy evaluation methods.Secondly, this article uses AHP-fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method and KANO mathematical model, based on literature and field research,to construct a residential pocket park post occupancy evaluation system consisting of two parts: qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis, and apply it to the post-occupancy evaluation of four residential pocket parks,JSY Pocket Park,FHL Pocket Park,CB Pocket Park and DX Pocket Park, and summarize the advantages and problems of the four case parks. It was found that different people have different needs and feelings about pocket parks, and different types of communities should pay attention to the differentiated design of pocket parks. Finally,on the basis of the case study of pocket parks in Tianhe District,Guangzhou, the characteristics and problems of residential pocket parks are summarized, and eight optimization strategies are proposed at the level of social environment elements, site participation elements and physiological comfort elements, including organizing various activities at the right time and in the right amount to enhance residents’ sense of community identity;integrating local cultural characteristics to improve the cultural quality of pocket parks;guiding residents to participate in the park The construction and management of the park;establishing a signage system to enhance the interactivity of the site;determining the structure of the user group to personalize the functions of the pocket park;focusing on humanized design to enhance the accessibility and participation of the site;paying attention to the green design of the park to enhance the comfort;focusing on post-maintenance and management to improve the management efficiency.Ultimately,it is proposed that community-based customized residential pocket parks will be the most effective measure to meet the specific requirements and needs of the community and improve the quality of life of residents.
