| Traditional Chinese gardens, represented by Jiangnan Gardens, are a treasure trove of Chinese architectural culture, and their window and door openings play an important role in the spatial creations in gardens. In recent years,as scholars have paid more attention to traditional Chinese Gardens, significant progress has been made in the study of traditional Chinese gardens, especially Jiangnan Gardens. Most of the existing studies on window and door openings in Jiangnan Gardens focus on their historical and cultural aspects, decorative arts, material construction and landscaping techniques, etc. The research literature and monographs on the spatial creations of window and door openings in gardens lack a relatively systematic and comprehensive study and elaboration. The window and door openings have an irreplaceable role in the design of spatial levels and movement lines in Jiangnan gardens, and modern spatial research has provided a new reference system for understanding gardens,so it is possible and necessary to re-examine the window and door openings in gardens from the perspective of spatial creation. Therefore, this thesis aims to conduct a comprehensive and in-depth study of the window and door openings in Jiangnan Gardens and their relationship with spatial creations,in order to provide some inspiration for the creation of contemporary architectural space and the inheritance of traditional culture.Taking the Lingering Garden as a typical case, this thesis focuses on the relationship between the window and door openings of the garden and its spatial creations.Firstly, based on the research results and existing literature, this thesis summarizes the basic functions and types of window and door openings in Lingering Garden, and summarizes their location distribution characteristics.Secondly, this thesis analyzes the window and door openings in Lingering Garden from both interface and space aspects, and explores the process of window and door openings creating space by shaping the spatial level and depth.According to the relationship between reality and fiction, the interface analysis part includes the study of the physical interface, the landscape interface, and the comparative study of the door and window openings interface with traditional landscape painting. The spatial analysis part combines the theory of nine-course grid and transparency theory, and analyzes the influence of door and window openings on the spatial levels and its relationship with spatial creations from both dynamic and static perspectives. Finally,on the basis of the above analysis, this thesis summarizes the spatial creation methods of window and door openings in Jiangnan Gardens, represented by Lingering Garden, and extends to explore their significance for modern architectural design. The contemporary inheritance of traditional Chinese gardens is an important link in the preservation of traditional Chinese culture. This thesis studies the door and window openings in the spatial creations of Jiangnan Gardens, summarizes the method of creating space through door and window openings in Jiangnan Gardens, and extends its reference value and application inspiration in modern design, which has certain practical significance. The research results help to summarize the laws of traditional Chinese garden landscape making and explore the spatial complexity of traditional Chinese gardens, with a view to inspiring and guiding modern architectural and landscape design practice, and paving the way for future research and design. |
