Since the 21 st century, along with the development process of urbanization in China, many young people have come to work in the first-tier cities, represented by "North,Guangzhou and Shenzhen",to seek better personal development opportunities. On the one hand, they bring high quality talent resources to the cities, but on the other hand, they also bring serious housing shortage problems to the cities. For most young people who are starting to work, renting is the first choice to solve the housing problem. However, under the influence of the Internet era,the working lifestyle of young people has changed dramatically compared to that of the previous generation, and has given rise to diverse housing needs. In the face of this change, the traditional residential housing method can hardly meet the diversified housing needs of young people. In this context,a number of branded youth apartments have emerged in China’s housing rental market. However, some branded youth apartments have the problem of product homogenization, which cannot meet the diversified living needs of young people.Based on the above background, this paper takes the living needs of different occupational groups of young people as the main research object.Firstly, this paper compares and analyzes the development history and typical cases of youth apartments at home and abroad, and explores the merits of excellent youth apartment projects;secondly,we use field surveys and questionnaires to investigate the current situation and living needs of youths in different occupational groups in Beijing. We summarized the problems in the use of living space and public space of youth apartments found during the survey, and summarized the living behaviors of different occupational groups based on the results of the research on the living needs of different occupational groups, based on which the living needs of youth groups based on occupational differentiation were divided into three categories,namely,leisure-oriented,occupation-oriented and social-oriented,and according to the Based on the characteristics of home life of different occupations, the occupation-oriented type is subdivided into commuter-oriented type and home-occupation-oriented type;again,by studying the basic functional space configuration of youth apartment units, three types of living space configuration modes are given for each type of living demand: extreme, economic and comfortable, providing diversified choices for young tenants;finally,on the basis of the previous study, the induction Finally, based on the previous study, the design principles of living space and public space of youth apartments are summarized, hoping to provide some design references for youth apartments to create spaces that better meet the working and living styles of young tenants.
