The development of traditional neighbourhoods has been of particular importance to our country since the last century. It is not only the history and culture of a region, but also the representative of a city.In the current development of society, the focus on traditional neighbourhoods is more on the restoration of the external appearance of the neighbourhood. In fact, the focus on these aspects can make people neglect the spatial form of traditional neighbourhoods, and the value of the spatial structure of the traditional neighbourhood itself is not valued, making the traditional architecture in traditional neighbourhoods less connected to other aspects of the internal landscape, and causing the loss of spatial information within traditional neighbourhoods. Therefore, based on the inheritance and transmission of traditional culture in traditional urban neighbourhoods,it is necessary to design and analyse the spatial form of traditional neighbourhoods, and adopt certain measures of renewal strategies to establish the connectivity of the spatial structure of traditional neighbourhoods, grasp the evolution of the spatial form of neighbourhoods, and ultimately protect the historical and cultural value of neighbourhoods. This traditional district is located in the south of Anju Town,Suizhou City,Hubei Province, and is also known as Anju Old Street, named after the legendary layout of nine streets and eighteen lanes. This paper takes the spatial form of the "Nine Streets and Eighteen Lanes" traditional neighbourhood in Anju Town,Suizhou City as the main subject of study, starting from the spatial structure of the traditional neighbourhood to the humanistic elements of the neighbourhood. The study also proposes a strategy for the regeneration and cultural conservation of the neighbourhood based on the necessary elements of spatial form. The first part is the introduction, which presents the background, scope, purpose and significance of the study, summarises the relevant theory and literature review, and finally presents the research methodology and practical implications of the topic. The second part presents the current situation of the selected topic, namely the nine streets and eighteen lanes, introducing the basic situation of the streets and lanes, the causes of their formation, environmental elements and historical elements, and finally proposing the specific research content. The third part is the core point of the paper,i.e.the analysis of the spatial form of the nine streets and eighteen lanes, from the overall spatial structure to the analysis of the individual spatial form, from the composition of the courtyards of the streets and lanes to the individual unit buildings, and through the composition of the spatial form of the streets and lanes, the analysis of the neighbourhood in terms of function, characteristics and development. In the fourth part, building on the previous overall study, this part focuses on proposing a plan for the neighbourhood as a whole, starting from various aspects such as spatial structure, architecture and landscape, and elaborating on the design strategies for the conservation and regeneration of the nine streets and eighteen lanes.
