| The China-Laos Railway is an important part of China’s "Belt and Road"initiative.The rail system is planned to link Kunming in southern China with Singapore.via Laos,Thailand and Malaysia.This change has attracted the attention of the international community,and many Southeast Asian countries have already enjoyed or are about to enjoy more and more economic changes and living conveniences brought by railways.The analysis pointed out that railway transportation is part of a wider regional economic integration,and the China-Laos Railway will become a key hub of the regional road network and a new force to enhance regional connectivity.In view of this,this study takes the geo-economics of the China-Laos Railway as the research theme,and takes Nong Khai Province as a research case to explore the impact of the opening of the China-Laos Railway on promoting the economic development of Northeast Thailand from the perspective of Thailand.The main purpose of the research is the following three points:first,to review and analyze the status quo of geoeconomic research on the China-Laos Railway at home and abroad;second,to discuss the current situation and challenges of border trade economic development in northeastern Thailand;The impact of regional development.Combining existing literature and case studies and interviews,it is found that the opening of the China-Laos Railway has indeed played a positive role in promoting the economic development of the Nong Khai region of Thailand,but in addition to the positive impact and remarkable results in economic and trade income,there are still constraints on the development of China-Thailand.Factors and potential risks of interconnection.In this regard,the Thai central government and Nong Khai local government authorities are proposing a series of countermeasures,hoping to jointly create sustainable development of the local economy of Nong Khai Province with the cooperation of government departments and relevant social organizations. |
