Research On The Strategy Of Outdoor Public Space Transformation In Old Residential Districts From The Perspective Of Micro-Renewal

With the rapid development of urban construction,the development of urban space in China has shifted from incremental development and expansion to the stage of optimizing and improving the stock.Urban renewal is an important way for urban development today.Renovation of outdoor public spaces in old residential areas is an important national livelihood project.The spatial capacity of old urban areas is limited,and it is crucial to efficiently utilize this existing space.In 2021,the national policy of "comprehensively improving urban quality" was introduced,transforming the urban development mode and eliminating the renovation of large-scale demolition and construction.In the context of stock planning,large-scale updates that undermine urban texture and historical culture have been denied,replaced by micro-renewal that protect urban historical context and spatial texture.The renovation of outdoor public spaces in old residential areas based on micro-renewal theory is the current development trend.As the mother city center of Chongqing,Yuzhong District has a long history of construction and currently has a large number of old residential areas.There are many problems with its outdoor public spaces,such as poor living environment,single entertainment environment,aging facilities,weak neighborhood relationships,and lack of historical context.Based on the micro-renewal perspective,this thesis takes the outdoor public spaces of old residential areas in Yuzhong District of Chongqing as the research object,and sorts them out from the theoretical and practical levels,Follow the logic of "raising questions-research basis-research methods and problem analysis-solving problems-case validation" for research.The specific research is as follows:Firstly,this thesis starts with theoretical research and determines the research object,current research status at home and abroad,research purpose and significance based on the research background.Sort out the relevant concepts and theories of micro-renewal of outdoor public spaces in old residential areas,analyze their basic concepts,characteristics,and other core elements.Learn and draw inspiration from excellent typical design cases both domestically and internationally,and summarize and organize their problems and strategies.The combination of theory and practice provides assistance for the subsequent research of this thesis.Secondly,through online and offline data collection,typical old residential outdoor public spaces in Yuzhong District,Chongqing were selected for pre research,and determine the classification and key research samples.Based on field research,quantitative and qualitative analysis methods,fuzzy analytic hierarchy process is used to comprehensively evaluate and analyze the four elements of environmental elements,spatial elements,facility elements,and cultural elements through survey data from residents and experts.The research and analysis results are used to explore the common problems of outdoor public spaces in old residential areas in Yuzhong District,namely weakened green attraction and poor environmental quality;The activity function is monotonous,and the spatial layout is extensive;Lack of facilities and obstacles to convenient living;Lack of site connotation,historical and cultural faults,etc.Based on the theory of micro-renewal,specific transformation strategies are proposed to address common issues,namely integrating available resources and intensively enriching the landscape;Reconstruct spatial functions for age friendly sharing;Optimize service facilities to provide convenient living;Explore cultural characteristics and continue local context.Finally,this thesis validates the application of strategies for the renovation of outdoor public spaces in three different types of old residential areas: open and shared,semi open courtyard,and enclosed.Based on the renovation principles and objectives proposed in this thesis,specific design results are made.This thesis aims to promote the improvement of the landscape quality of outdoor public spaces in old residential areas in Chongqing,and provide reference for the renovation of outdoor public spaces in old residential areas in Chongqing in the future.
