| Transportation is the basic support and prerequisite for the tourism industry to achieve global reach,as they are interrelated and mutually reinforcing.Highway transport,as an important part of transportation, possesses the characteristics of mobility and flexibility, which can effectively reduce the time for tourists to reach their destinations and improve their overall travel experience. However, while highway transport and tourism exhibit strong coupling when promoting each other, there is no consensus on how to achieve the integration and coordinated development of the two systems. In order to better explore the interaction between these two systems and their coordinated development, and to provide a basis for corresponding tourism road planning and tourism travel services, this paper studies the evolutionary process of integration and development between highway transport and tourism,as well as the level of coupling and coordination at both the provincial and municipal levels. The main research content includes:(1)Mechanistic analysis of the integration of transport and tourism development.Relevant theories are examined in order to analyze the connotation and characteristics of traffic-travel integration.Next, the mechanism of traffic-travel integration is clarified, and it is established that the essence of traffic-travel integration development is a coupling process.Additionally,it is determined that the state of the process is coordination.(2)Research on the Coupling and Coordinated Development Mechanism of Highway Transportation and Tourism from a Macroscopic Perspective. To explore the interaction mechanism between highway transportation and tourism at a macro level, this study establishes comprehensive development evaluation index systems for highway transportation and tourism respectively, calculates their respective development levels, and utilizes time series econometric models,Lotka-Volterra models, coupling coordination models, and grey relational degree models to construct a research framework for the coupling and coordinated development levels of highway transportation and tourism. The study aims to investigate the dynamic evolution process, coupling coordination level, and important factors influencing their mutual impact.(3)Research on the Evaluation of General Tourism Adaptability of Regional Highway Networks from the Perspective of Coupling and Coordination. This study analyzes the connotation of tourism adaptability of regional highway networks and incorporates considerations of highway network resilience and green tourism development concepts. It proposes indicators related to road network resilience and a method for calculating carbon emissions from tourism transportation on trunk highways. These calculated indicators are then integrated into the evaluation index systems of highway network transportation adaptability and tourism development adaptability, reflecting the resilience of the regional road network and the level of low-carbon tourism associated with highway travel.Furthermore,a comprehensive evaluation system is constructed for the tourism adaptability of regional highway networks, which includes highway network transportation adaptability, tourism development adaptability, and potential supply-demand adaptability. As the adaptability of the highway network to tourism development and the level of coupling and coordination between them describe the same objective state from different perspectives, the study introduces the theory of coupling and coordination. It calculates the coupling and coordination degree of the evaluation results of the three systems, thus obtaining the evaluation results of the regional highway network’s tourism adaptability.(4)Case study.By taking Yunnan Province as an example and applying the above model and theory, the following conclusions are drawn: Firstly, road traffic development in Yunnan Province is a unidirectional Granger cause of tourism development.During the evolutionary process, the two systems exhibit a predator-prey relationship and have not yet reached the reciprocity stage. The level of coupled coordination between road traffic and tourism in Yunnan Province develops from the near-disorder stage to the medium coordination stage between 2009 and 2019.Secondly,a multi-dimensional evaluation of the tourism adaptability of road networks is carried out for each state and city in Yunnan Province in 2019,using multi-source data such as traffic data, highway network topology, and statistical yearbooks. From the evaluation results,it can be seen that three regions,Kunming,Dali, and Qujing, have a high degree of coupling coordination and are in good coordination, while Nujiang has the lowest degree of coupling coordination and is barely coordinated. The rest of the states and cities are mostly in the primary coordination or intermediate coordination stage. Finally, based on the above analysis, targeted measures have been proposed to promote the coupled and coordinated development of regional highway transport and tourism. This paper investigates the integration and development mechanisms of highway transportation and tourism from both qualitative and quantitative perspectives. It incorporates factors such as low-carbon tourism and road network resilience into the evaluation of the adaptability of highway networks for tourism. This enriches the content of the evaluation methods and provides strong support for promoting the coordinated development of regional highway transportation and tourism integration. |
