Parent-child communication is one of the most important ways in family education.Good parent-child communication is conducive to parent-child relationships which plays an extremely important role in a child’s life.Today,the way of parent-child communication is no longer confined to the parent’s absolute authority or the children’s unconditional obedience.Parents try to use diverse forms of methods to make their children obedient.However,the problem is that even though parents use various ways to communicate with their children,the results are still unsatisfactory.So,it is necessary to find a more scientific,effective and targeted ways to help parent-child communication.This study targets children aged 3-6 and their parents,with the aim of helping children and parents to improve their parent-child communication skills and foster the development of parent-child relationships from a designer’s perspective.Firstly,the study investigates the current background and existing researches of parent-child communication through the literature research method.Then,combining questionnaires and open-ended interviews,the study investigates the characteristics of current parent-child communication,summarizes parent-child communication problems and analyses the causes of the problems from three aspects: communication members,communication content and communication methods.At the same time,investigates the products related to parent-child communication,such as children’s early education machines and Parenting Apps to understand the interaction trends.Then,we conducted in-depth interviews with parents to find out their needs in parent-child communication and conducted group conversation activities and drawing activities in kindergartens to find out children’s needs,so as to compare and analyse the shortcomings of existing products.After that,by combining the current situation and problems of parent-child communication,the needs of users,the trends and shortcomings of existing products,proposes the corresponding design strategies and principles.Finally,design practice is carried out according to design strategies and principles.The study tries to combine children’s interactive toys with parents’ parenting applications to design a parent-child communication interactive product called Moca.On the one hand,the product gives children the opportunity for expression and emotional care.On the other hand,by collecting and deciphering the characteristics and needs of children,it helps parents to acquire and learn targeted,scientific and effective parent-child communication methods to improve relationship between them. |
