This study was conducted to study the effects of guanidine acetic acid on body weight,body size and blood indexes of growing Angus cattle,and to explore the effects of guanidine acetic acid on growing beef cattle through feeding experiment.Thirty-eight growing Angus cattle with body weight of 300kg±30kg were randomly divided into control group and experimental group.Nineteen cows in each group were fed with mixed concentrate pellets and corn straw at dry matter ratio of 2.5% of body weight,concentrate to forage ratio of 50:50.The diets of experimental group were supplemented with 15 g guanidine acetic acid(60% purity)per head per day,and the guanidine acetic acid was prepared into pellet feed according to the proportion and concentrate in advance.During the feeding period of 4 months,the changes of body weight,body size and blood indexes of Angus beef cattle were measured.Experiment 1: Effects of guanidine acetic acid on weight of growing Angus beef cattle.The results showed as follows: dry matter intake of beef cattle in experimental group increased compared with control group,but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05);The average daily gain of experimental group was slightly lower than that of control group,but there was no significant difference(P>0.05);There was no significant difference in feed conversion efficiency between experimental group and control group(P>0.05).Experiment 2: Effects of guanidine acetic acid on body size of growing Angus beef cattle.The results showed as follows: in the first month of diet supplemented with 15 g guanidine acetic acid(60% purity),the girth of shoulder and back and thigh of beef cattle were significantly lower than those of experimental group(P<0.01),tube circumference was significantly lower than that of experimental group(P<0.05),other body size indexes had no significant difference(P>0.05).However,after 4 months,the shoulder and back girth,leg and hip girth and tube girth of beef cattle in guanidine acetic acid group were increased to some extent,but not statistically significant(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in body size between the two groups(P>0.05).In terms of body size index,the body index of beef cattle was significantly increased in the first month after guanidine acetic acid was added(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference between the two groups after feeding for 4 months(P>0.05),other body size indexes had no significant difference(P>0.05).Experiment 3: Effects of guanidine acetic acid on blood indexes of growing Angus beef cattle.The results showed that guanidine acetic acid had no significant effect on blood routine indexes of growing Angus beef cattle(P>0.05);There was no significant effect on total protein(TP),albumin(ALB),UREA nitrogen(UREA nitrogen),glucose glucose(GLU),aspartate transferase(AST)and alanine aminotransferase(ALT)of beef cattle(P>0.05).However,the serum immunoglobulin G(Ig G)content of beef cattle was significantly increased(P<0.05);It significantly increased the content of immunoglobulin M(Ig M)(P<0.01).Meanwhile,guanidine acetic acid increased blood total antioxidant capacity(TAOC)of beef cattle(P<0.05),the concentration of malondialdehyde(MDA)was significantly decreased(P<0.01).In conclusion,dietary supplementation of 15 g guanidine acetic acid per head per day(60% purity)has no significant effect on body weight and body size of growing Angus beef cattle(P>0.05);But it can improve the blood immunity index and antioxidant index of beef cattle to some extent,and has a certain health care effect.
