| Research background and purpose: Painting farmers raising pigs is a common production phenomenon in China’s rural areas and one of the common sources of household sideline income. But in recent years, the accelerated withdrawal of freerange farmers has seriously affected the balance and development of China’s pig industry. In order to solve this problem, this paper will discuss the main reasons that affect farmers’ willingness to raise pigs from the perspective of rural financial demand, and propose corresponding countermeasures. The purpose is to enhance farmers’ willingness to raise pigs, alleviate the supply and demand balance in the pig market, and ensure the normal operation of the livelihood market economy.Data source: The data in this paper comes from the field survey conducted by undergraduate students of Henan Agricultural University on farmers in Henan Province during the winter holiday in 2021.This survey of farmers is based on the principle of student territory survey, that is,the farmers surveyed by the students are the villages where the students came from or were born,or the farmers in neighboring villages. The survey covers 18 cities,142 counties,785 townships, and 1028 villages in Henan province, including Zhoukou,Nanyang,Xinyang,Xinxiang,Pingdingshan,Luoyang,Zhumadian,Anyang,Shangqiu,Puyang,Kaifeng,Zhengzhou,Jiaozuo,Sanmenxia,Hebi,Jiyuan,Xuchang and Luohe prefecture-level cities. There are 2451 households in this survey, and the effective sample is 2427 households.Research method: This paper will use statistical description, binary logistic model and other methods to study the questionnaire. The questionnaire will be divided into five aspects for discussion: family characteristics, legal awareness, government policy orientation, market supervision, and farmers’ financial needs.Result analysis:(1)The proportion of pig farmers in the province and their willingness to raise pigs in the future are showing a downward trend. At this stage, the proportion of pig farmers and future farmers’ willingness to raise pigs is quite different between regions.(2)Among the control factors, there is a positive correlation between farmers’ willingness to raise pigs, including the number of family labor, whether farmers have received government assistance, and whether farmers’ pigs meet the supervision standards in terms of market supervision. The variables negatively related to farmers’ willingness to feed include farmers’ reserve and understanding of laws and regulations, and farmers’ education level.(3)Among the financial related factors, there is a positive correlation: farmers’ trust in financial institutions and the degree of capital input. The negative correlation factor is the farmers’ financial situation. At present, the more the farmers need financial support, the lower their feeding willingness.Solutions: At the end of the paper, detailed solutions for these problems are proposed for reference, such as(1)The country should vigorously promote relevant talents to apply their knowledge and serve the grass-roots level.(2)The market should establish a legal and compliant regulatory system.(3)The government should increase subsidies to farmers to reduce their breeding risks.(4)Increase the loan limit for farmers’ breeding funds and reduce the loan interest of farmers.(5)We will strictly strengthen the management of financial institutions and ensure that the interests of farmers are protected. |
