This study was conducted to investigate the effect of dietary YUPINGFENG polysaccharides(YPS)on growth performance and antioxidant capacity, disease and/or stress resistance ability on juvenile Macrobrachium rosenbergii.Six experimental diets were formulated to contain 0,0.0125%,0.025%,0.05%,0.1%,and 0.2%YPS levels. The diets were administered for ten weeks and each diet was fed six replicate thanks(φ1.5 m,800 L water per tank)containing 40 juvenile M.rosenbergii(initial body weight 0.30±0.01g).The feeding trials lasted for 10 weeks. Results were as follows:1 Effects of dietary YPS on growth performance, whole body composition, and serum biochemistry of juvenile M.rosenbergiiSurvival was did not significantly affected(P>0.05)by dietary YPS levels when compared to the control group. While, final body weight(FBW),weight gain rate(WGR)and specific growth rate(SGR)of prawn were significantly improved(P<0.05)by dietary YPS levels when compared with the control group. The highest(WGR)and(SGR)of the prawn were recorded in the diet containing 0.2%dietary YPS supplementation level in the group diet. With regard to feed utilization the result showed that feed conversion(FCR)was significantly decreased(P<0.05)when compared with the control group.Similarly, the feed intake of the prawn significantly decreased(P<0.05)except diet containing 0.05%dietary YPS level in the diet group when compared to the control group. While the protein efficiency ratio(PER)across the group significantly increased(P<0.05)compared to the control group diet. The hepatic index(HI)and flesh content(FC)of the prawn were not affected(P>0.05)by dietary YPS level, whereas the condition factor(CF)at 0.05%and 0.1%supplemented dietary YPS level significantly improved(P<0.05)when compared to the control group. There was no significant difference(P>0.05)in the dry matter and ash contents in the whole body of the prawn among groups.0.025%dietary YPS level significantly decreased on the crude protein compared with the other groups except 0.05%YPS level group.Whereas, crude lipid was significantly increased in the YPS addition group except 0.0125%dietary YPS level group when compared to the control group(P<0.05).Serum total protein(TP)and albumin(ALB)were significantly higher(P<0.05)in the prawn diet at 0.2%containing dietary YPS level, whereas total cholesterol(TC)and triglyceride(TG)were significantly lower(P<0.05)when compared to the control group.Similarly,at 0.2%dietary YPS level serum glucose(GLU)and urea(UR)were significantly higher(P<0.05)when compared to the control group.2 The effects of dietary YPS on antioxidant enzyme activity and disease resistance challenge test on juvenile M.rosenbergiiWith respect to the antioxidant enzymatic activity the result showed that there was no significant difference in the superoxide dismutase(SOD)enzymatic activity in the group when compared to the control group(P>0.05).However,at 0.1%dietary YPS level glutathione peroxidase(GPx)was significantly increased(P<0.05)whereas at 0.2%dietary YPS level, malondialdehyde(MDA)content was significantly lower(P<0.05)when compared to the control group. There was no significant difference in the nitric oxide(NO)and inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS)activity in the group when compared to the control group. The result for bacteria challenge showed after seven days challenge with non-01 Vibiro cholera bacteria the survival of the prawn was significantly improved(P<0.05)at 0.05%and 0.1%dietary YPS supplemented diet when compared to the control group. The survival were 73.33%and 66.66%respectively.Similarly,the density stress challenge after 96 hours showed that the survival of the prawn was significantly improved(P<0.05)at 0.2%dietary YPS level when compared to the control group. The survival was 86.67%.In short, dietary YPS in the diet of M.rosenbergii can improve growth performance, feed utilization, and serum parameters. The addition of appropriate level of YPS can improve antioxidant capacity of M.rosenbergii as well as improve the disease resistance ability.Overall, the study drew attention to the hypothesis and dietary YPS could be used safely as a feed additive in M.rosenbergii diets.
