Wildflower combination refers to the biological community formed by the natural growth of various wild flowers in a certain spatial-temporal range in a natural ecosystem. Its formation is influenced by multiple ecological factors and creates ecological mechanism regulation. The morphological characteristics, species composition, and species diversity of the wildflower combination are one of the important indicators for evaluating biodiversity.Wildflower combinations can attract and protect a variety of natural enemies, effectively restrain the spread of pests, and improve the quality of crops. The ecological benefits of wildflower combinations depend on their ecological design scheme, but the current research on community construction theory for wildflower combinations is limited, which to some extent restricts the development of wildflower combinations in China. To solve this problem, this study aims to extract information on existing publicly available wildflower combination schemes in China through a systematic review of literature, and construct a Chinese wildflower combination database using statistical and analytical methods of quantitative ecology.Based on this foundation, the general characteristics and response mechanisms of Chinese wildflower combinations in design are clearly defined.Furthermore,a comparison is made between Chinese wildflower combination schemes and those of European and American countries, thus further clarifying the heterogeneity of Chinese wildflower combinations in design strategies and community construction. Finally, the research will focus on the current status of Chinese wildflower combinations for design, cultivation and monitoring in agricultural landscapes, analyze the monitoring results, and propose improvement measures.According to the analysis of the database,it is found that the research on Chinese wildflower combinations has maintained a sustained development trend in recent years, showing a multi-centralized aggregation distribution in space. In terms of design intention,it mainly concerns experimental sites, ecological benefits, cultivation management, and ornamental characteristics, with plants such as Asteraceae being the main species. In terms of species composition,Chinese wildflower combinations have obvious convergent features, which are mainly reflected in the excessive use of some Asteraceae invasive alien plants. In terms of species source, the first source of plant species in Chinese wildflower combinations is from North America rather than China, and invasive plants account for more than 40 percent. In terms of invasion problems, the overall trend of Chinese wildflower combinations in terms of invasion increases year by year with development time, and its species composition and design intention and spatial-temporal attributes are not significantly related. This indicates that the convergent feature is one of the main reasons for its invasiveness. In practice,it shows that the wildflower combinations that have been published are all wildflower species that grow in dry land, and there are fewer wildflower species suitable for growing in water paddies. This study has preliminarily revealed the development of Chinese wildflower combinations and their species selection characteristics, which will contribute to subsequent research and analysis of wildflower buffer zone community composition for international wildflower buffer zones, especially empirical research on biodiversity enhancement functionality.Exploration of the differences and causes of wildflower buffer zones based on different biodiversity enhancement needs in different habitats,as well as further collation of information such as family characteristics and functional features, summarized different wildflower buffer zone design strategies based on different ecosystem service functions and different habitats, thereby contributing to the development of Chinese wildflower combinations and the creation of beautiful rural landscapes.
