ObjectiveTo observe the effects of electro-acupuncture combined with lower he-sea point and front mu point on the Clinical Constipation Score(CCS),Bristol Stool Form Scale(BSFS)and Patient-Assessment of Constipation Quality Of Life(PAC-QOL)in the treatment of post-stroke constipation. And to evaluate the clinical efficacy of electro-acupuncture with lower he-sea point and front mu point in the treatment of post-stroke constipation in order to provide a effective and simple therapeutic method.MethodsIn this study, according to the random number table,60 patients with post-stroke constipation were divided into 2 groups of 30 patients each.Patients in both groups were treated with the basic stroke treatment protocol, and both groups received health instructions. The treatment group was treated with electro-acupuncture combined with lower he-sea point and front mu point; The control group referred to the acupuncture method for constipation in acupuncture and moxibustion Therapeutics,a textbook of the13 th Five Year Plan for Chinese medicine in national general higher education, and was a general acupuncture group. In both groups,6 times of treatment was a course of treatment, with 1 day of rest in the middle,a total of 2 courses, and 2 weeks of follow-up,for a total of 4 weeks. The CCS,BSFS,and PAC-QOL of each patient were collected and recorded before treatment and 14 days after treatment. The data were analyzed using SPSS27.0.Results1.Comparison of CCS and individual symptom scores: After intervention,CCS were significantly lower in both groups(P<0.01);and the reduction was more significant in the lower he-sea point and front mu point group than in the general acupuncture group(P<0.05).The frequency of defecation, difficulty in defecation, incomplete emptying, abdominal pain, duration of defecation, number of unsuccessful defecations per day,and assisted defecation were significantly lower in the lower he-sea point and front mu point group than in the general acupuncture group(P<0.01).The reduction in difficulty in defecation and duration of defecation was more significant in the lower he-sea point and front mu point group than in the general acupuncture group(P<0.05).It indicated that the lower he-sea point and front mu point group has a significant effect on clinical symptoms of constipation of post-stroke constipation, especially on the degree of difficulty in defecation and duration of defecation.2.Comparison of BSFS: The BSFS of patients in both groups increased significantly after treatment(P<0.01).Compared with the general acupuncture group, the change in the lower he-sea point and front mu point group was not significant(P>0.05).It indicated that the lower he-sea point and front mu point group and the general acupuncture group were equally effective in improving fecal property.3.Comparison of PAC-QOL: After treatment, the PAC-QOL in both groups decreased significantly(P<0.01).Compared with the general acupuncture group, the change in the lower he-sea point and front mu point group was not significant(P>0.05).It indicated that the lower he-sea point and front mu point group and the general acupuncture group were equally effective in improving the quality of life of patients in both groups.4.Comparison of curative effects of TCM symptoms: The curative effect of TCM symptoms in the lower he-sea point and front mu point group was better than that in the general acupuncture group after treatment(96.67%>90.00%).ConclusionFor post-stroke constipation patients,Electro-acupuncture "Tianshu"(ST 25)and "Shang Juxu"(ST 37)can significantly improve constipation symptoms and quality of life. The lower he-sea point and front mu point group is superior to the general acupuncture group in TCM symptoms.
